I'm really looking forward to this. I expect it to turn out well... I just hope Barrington can hold on until this major round of construction is complete (and would be so happy if the Pacific Building's facade was fixed now while everything else is torn up).

Wow, better than expected!

Are they going to use red brick for the podium?

Just need a few apartment buildings of this scale/quality around the commons to ensure more people live on the peninsula and push rents down.

Just wanted to share this one with all of you. I took it from my desk today. Please don't mind the dirty windows. Also, this is my first post and I have 50/50 chances that this will come up sideways so here you go:

Cheers,

Holy progress Batman! The last time I went to this thread this thing wasn't even at ground level yet! I'm highly impressed, and more convinced to visit Halifax someday.

You will have to check in the Halifax Local forum more often, there is a lot going up.

Halifax is a great place to visit, and you can get to most places on the mainland NS within a couple hours drive.

Are you referred to the demolished Zellers building?

Any idea what will happen with the Vogue Optical building? Will it gutted and turned into retail/condos? If anything they need to do something with the rusting windows and doors.

No plans at the moment, but Starfish did acquire it so I'd imagine some form of restoration/conversion will happen to it fairly soon.

Do you mean the base of the Roy? Its the podium portion, not yet clad. The lowest levels with the big openings are parking I think. To the left is the Vogue building.

I mean the lot in that picture where there is a Deere digger; not the Roy building site but right across the street from it.
