I pick Feb 2015 as the completion date. Anybody else want to guess on a completion date??

I am a bit more optimistic. I would guess December 2013, assuming that the interior will be essentially unfinished and will be finished by tenants as they move in.

Apparently the 5 Moes are splitting their time between this and the Polley condo project off Agricola.

Nothing seems to have happened for months, but I did see the lower doors open one evening this week, with some trucks and workers inside. No obvious signs of work happening though!

I think there must be some way that the city can put pressure on a company to finish a project in a reasonable time.
Considering the time taken to do this project, there is not one of us alive today who will see the completion of the Roy Building.

At one point I seem to remember the developer talking about a "3 year built-out".

I guess it's almost moot now since the building is nearly completed but this is a long time to have empty storefronts and the disruption of construction.

I emailed Rob Landry of Starfish Properties and asked when he expected this to be done, and this was his response.

"With our interior improvements underway, we anticipate being able to populate the building beginning in the fall."

Hopefully they stick to that timeline

They were pouring concrete here yesterday. Possibly some new floors going in. They've also done some minor restorations to the top of the two red brick facades.

Slowly but surel.. slowly.

Louis Reznick of Starfish Properties sort of reminds me of Rob Ford, Mayor of Toronto.

Some outrageous story will break about the Mayor, something he did (ie smoking crack on video) and rather than answering questions or resigning, he just sort of pretends nothing happens and then continues on with his job. Reporters cannot force him answer questions. They ask, he ignores. And eventually, they have to start writing about something else and asking about something else.

Louis Reznick is sort of like that. The paints over the Morse Tea sign. It provokes outrage, etc, stories are written, reporters ask him questions, etc. But he ignores the questions and the stories. And he just sort of continues on as if nothing happens. Eventually media focuses on other things.

So here we are, Morse Tea sign gone... now cleverly hidden behind some bizarro and cheesy banner ad. And Rob Ford... still Mayor.

Henry Ford II coined the phrase "Never complain, never explain" and that seems to apply to these cases you cite.

The first floor facade of the old Granite Brewery building was taken out today. Looks like they are making way for the new floor to ceiling glazing.

I really don't expect to see this one finished in my lifetime.

It may not be finished yet but it looks pretty good:

The upper-left photo was meant to be a commentary on failing to preserve heritage buildings I think but I am not sure the photographer knew what the old building was like. Not everything is suited for preservation.
