Question Spire

Okay, some good news for the Spire at 14th and Champa. Last Friday, I asked the parking attendant about all the writing on the street and he said don't park in the Central lot on the night of the 30th, because they'll be towing after midnight and closing that pkng lot for ever. Then his lot will be shut down one week later, and on the 9th......drum roll.......They should be breaking ground on the Spire. I'm not sure how reliable his sources are, but I'm hopefull we'll see a big hole with a tower crane there this spring.

Hey DenT...yeh we've been chanting, praying, meditating for an April ground breaking. Your news may be very reliable after all. Thanks for the info and for starting up a new Spire thread. We should keep this one alive so we can update with pics and such.

DenTowers. Your info is consistent with the info I'm hearing too. I haven't heard of a specific date yet, but I do know it's supposed to be in April.

Very exciting news!

I agree Glow-HipHopper

Also thank you very much for that bit of information DenTowers, I have been downtown on several occasions as of late, and have been wondering when we would hear something more concrete on the Spire. The whole block is plastered with information and that ugly arss garage has a Demolition Contractors Advertisement on it up top. I really hope come early April this one starts up, just think 1LP and the Spire and all of the other low and mid rise towers that are going up right now!!! WOO HOO I LOVE THIS CITY~

The parking lot was full today. This was the auto show weekend. Maybe it will be closed off tonight.

I do know the building permit has to be issued by May 1.

^It doesn't take that long to shut down a parking lot and the dates are not concrete, just rumors. It'll happen in April, maybe this week, maybe the following, but it will happen.

Only 4 more days away and we'll see if the rumor is correct.

I don't think Spire will start construction this month. As of yesterday, they received an extension of the foundation building permit until Sept. 1, 2007. Now, that doesn't mean that construction will be delayed until September, but that they now have until then to pull the permit.

My guess is that they will get approval of the superstructure permit that was submitted last month, and pull both at the same time.

Thanks for the update, RDS. Interesting news on the extension, what would be the reason to go ahead and pull both permits at once? Is there an economic benefit?

Damn it, RDS, my ignorant ass doesn't want to hear about permit this, permit that! It means it may not happen. Any pessimism at all will kill it!
