never thought we would see this day. Next big milestone will be construction getting out of the ground.

Except Hinkie could never accept that he had reached the bottom and that it was time to build. He would be a good developer for 8th and Market St.

Speaking of 8th and market....

Is there anything to know about that space? Seems like it'd be hard NOT to develop that lot.

The most recent proposal there was the Market8 casino proposal. After the Casino Board chose the 10th and Packer site, the Market8 principals had to redesign 8th & Market. That was a whiles ago.

Itll be interesting to see how they manage to work with those horizontal columns when they start raising the core

Same here.
I just wish when a developer presents their proposal to city council, that it would pass and construction begins immediately.
Unfortunately, there are countless delays.

Want city funding?
Gotta meet the requirements.

Those columns should be removed once the foundation (retaining wall) is complete. All they're doing right now is holding soil back.

i read people attending the convention are staying are far away as Valley Forge since most city hotel rooms were taken. I guess we can sustain a 750 room hotel in center city. I'm counting 4 Center city hotels that are under construction- this, Cambria, Aloft and Four Seasons. Did I miss any? Should be about 1100 rooms.

The city, for its volume of visitors, has a deficit of 4,000 hotel rooms. Currently has around 15,000.

Yeah, we have a huge shortage. Whenever there is any major convention or event, it is impossible to get a room anywhere in the city. And I'm not just talking about the Pope. Like any of the bigger convention center events, it's nearly impossible to get a room. We can't be a big tourism city if that's the case.

Agreed. My wife and I wanted to have a 10th anniversary getaway in Center City and we had to compete with the modest AIA convention. We got a room for more than NY rates because of that.
