Given the seismic zone this sits, in it must be a really strong building.

It's great to see a Latin American city other than Panama City building tall!

This really turned out nice. Pelli delivers again. If it's any preview of what the Transbay Tower in SF will look like, I'm liking what I'm seeing.

I haven't checked in on this one for a while, but I have to say, it's looking good.

This is one of my favorites as well. I check for updates every month. Does anyone have an update on when we could see the other towers under construction? This project is four towers, if I remember correctly?

Isn't it somewhat risky to build a tower this tall in a seismically unstable area like Santiago, Chile. Have the architects and engineers considered the worst case scenarios in the event of a violent earthquake? It looks like a very beautiful, modernist tower and I wish the developers very well in its success. Santiago looks like a very beautiful city with a spectacular mountain backdrop. It is one city that I always wanted to visit.

no different than tokyo, los angeles, or san francisco. i'm sure the building was engineered appropriately based on current understanding of seismicity in the region. i'd be much more worried about the bulk of the existing building stock in santiago than a brand new tower like this.

I totally agree with you, but humor me while I make a science point...
The comparison to Tokyo is best, since it sits above a subduction zone capable of producing massive earthquakes like the recent Tohoku quake (M9+). The San Andreas in California is a transform fault and the biggest earthquakes on record are under M8. Still huge, but considering the scale is logarithmic its a big difference. The largest earthquake ever recorded was in Chile.

This looks a lot like the now cancelled 15 Penn Plaza tower.

Not cancelled, but yes, it does look similar to that proposal.

I actually stayed in a hotel very close to this tower. It was u/c at the time, but I had no idea it was going so tall. It looks very nice, but, unfortunately, it's kind of a suburban environment. Looks very cool from afar, though.

That's because it's the same architect. Cesar Pelli.

this city is beautiful and i am glad they have developed it so much different than most of the other latin american cities have developed. they all/or the vast majority at least, look like varying scale versions of São Paulo. not here though it is completely unique amongst its peers. very nice tower.

yep, pelli towers tend to look like pelli towers. its alright, nice even, but it's nothing we haven't seen pretty much repeated elsewhere by pelli. this city deserved a more distinctive bldg for it's big tower, like the shard or something like that.
