The bigger one bedroom have good layouts. It's the smaller one bedroom that have bad layouts. Too rectangular and narrow with no windows in the bedroom.

Thanks!

I never really think about these buildings being wooden when I pass by them...

The site has almost been levelled now and they've built a protected walkway along Broadway.

Is anyone able to provide a rough estimate of how long the excavation for this project will probably last? Thanks.

Whats gonna happen with the sales center building? Its a cool looking structure (minus the fake wood formica panels on the north facade) but those could be easily changed out to a variety of materials. Would be a great space for a restaurant.

Does anyone know if they are planning a second phase for the site? possibly also amalgamate with the restaurant building site to the south, would make for a substantial second phase.

Looks like they might be tearing it down. I took these pics today.

Too bad. Im curious what the environmental impact is from construction to demolition of the new materials in one of these sales centres of this scale. Is it accounted for when determining the level of LEED certification a development receives?

It's certainly not good for the environment, it's equal to building a new house then tearing it down right away, all the materials and the energy required to manufacture then disposal of said new materials.

Good question. Hopefully the material is all getting recycled somehow. The amount of presentation centres popping up for Cambie corridor projects is astounding but at least they're all in existing CRU's

^ I so agree. The development and construction of that sales centre was so over-the-top. It was obvious that the project would sell out with or without a fancy purpose-built sales centre. It probably cost more to build than one of the suites it was used to sell.

Why not just take an existing un-tenanted building and build some show suites in there?
OR
After spending all of that money building a city-approved code-meeting structure, why not re-use the building for some other purpose? Retail location - perfect. Temporary gallery space? Why not. Sales centre for other future development projects in Mount Pleasant? Great idea.

Nah, let's knock it all down and leave the site abandoned for another decade...

Will this return to its underutilized surface parking lot state?

If you look in the above pics you can see the advertising billboard (with a George Clooney on a motorcycle ad) was not removed despite the construction of this large building just feet away from it. I think that is very telling... If they were planning on leaving this building wouldn't this ugly advertising board been quickly removed??

Isn't the site where the sales centre is (was) part of the development?

The sales centre is west of Watson st, the development approved is east of Watson.
