Don't you mean Calgary was the first city to do it? Calgarians are credited with turning the Grey Cup into a week long national celebration. In 1948, Stampeder fans descended on Toronto en masse. The much repeated slice of Grey Cup folklore tells the story of how Calgary alderman Don Mackay rode a horse into the lobby of the Royal York Hotel.
