Those nobody actors should be pretty happy to get a seasons worth of work, even if the show was moving to Edmonton. At least David Duchovny had some star power when he moved his show to L.A., although now he's come crawling back to Vancouver on his hands and knees in need of work.

Lol I don't think it's a slight against the city. People who live and work in an area have family and friends there. Who would enjoy being uprooted? I wouldn't

Final Destination 5. It's an interesting scene from a Vancouverite perspective and comes to your mind every time you gross the bridge. Lots of gore, so beware.

An impressive summer for filming in the city. Fear the Walking Dead, Spielberg is in town filming the BFG, the X-Files reboot, Star Trek 3, Fox's Minority Report TV series, Amazon Prime's the Man in The High Castle...I'm obviously missing some, but that is a fairly incredible lineup. No wonder smaller productions from the likes of the CW have to film in the off season.

The big budget productions seem to have really ramped up. The Aliens sequel, which will be directed by Neill Blomkamp (who is based in Vancouver) is rumoured to be set to film in Vancouver in the fall.

I know that is Van / Vancouver towers, but it is "playing" as San Francisco.

i want to see Vancouver destroyed playing itself one day in a big movie.

Same goes for final destination, yes it was blatantly the Lions Gate / Van, but it was "fictional US city" location.

It annoys me even more when they do that and take no effort at all to make it look like somewhere else.

The movie 50/50 was the worst for that. The opening sequence of the main character jogging around all of Vancouver's famous site (Stanley Park, The Lions Gate, Coal Harbor) made it seem that for sure that movie was going to actually take place in Van, but nope, after that sequence direct shot of a "Seattle Times" newspaper box. The audience in the theatre actually burst out laughing when that was shown.

Yeah, because for many Japanese Vancouver has an "exotic" type of appeal. I know it is hard for Canadians to think of anything in Canada as "exotic" or even comparable to such places as Sydney / London, but for many Asians Vancouver (and Toronto) is.

Nice shots of Van, pretty weak ad though.

Nice to see they are using some up to date population figures too.

Many have likely already seen this, but it is well made. I also nowadays notice almost immediately when Vancouver is part of a film, tv serie or an ad.

I just found this website:

https://moviemaps.org/cities/2

You can look up many locations in Metro Vancouver and see what movies / tv sohws were filmed there, and vice versa.

Great for showing friends, visitors, tourists locations.

Interesting. I saw a similar scene on that block several months ago. Expensive re-shoot?

There was some big 50s scene in Chinatown the other day. Lots of film shooting going on.

That was Van Helsing and at the same time Prison Break filming on the roof. Nuts.

On the contrary, the "50s" shoot in Chinatown was almost certainly for The Man in the High Castle, which is technically set in the very early 60s.

The new Power Rangers movie has apparently been shooting in Steveston over the last few weeks.

Uh oh, Vancouver may not appear so much in the car commercials anymore. There is just no need with revolutionary software like this.
