Drove by this morning, looks like just another layer of plywood on top of the forms.

anyone know how many video screens the final design of the public square included.

i think having big led screens should be a major component of this project. Not only for game days but also in general i think a well lit area with lots of videos and special lighting creates more vibrancy and better overall atmosphere. Without any special lighting or video screens this square will be pretty dull and no different than any other park or public square out here

lets create a redonda square, time square type vibe out here.. have video screens big billboards.. huge advertisments that would create more revenue for true north square aswell dont be dumb chipman dont be a fool get it done

downtown winnipeg is way more vibrant than calgary downtown imo .. ive been to downtown calgary many times and after 5 pm its a complete ghost town and thier night life is wayyy worse than winnipegs... winnipeg downtown has so much potential... theres something unique about the city in general.. its not a concrete jungle like every other city winnipeg is most underrated city in canada and we will probably have the nicest downtowns in canada in 6 years not in terms of buildings and skyline but just overall feel and atmosphere.. calgary downtwon sucks, lots of buildings but not life... toronto downtown is just a concrete jungle... vancouver is becoming that too.. winnipeg could use some new buildings while still retaining its canopy of trees and greenery. and old architecture

Looked out the window at work this morning and its still in the same place. It appears to solar powered so maybe a cable has come loose?

Here's what that section looks like from below after it's all put together. You can see on the floor below the shape they're making with the forms

Watching the project progress on a daily basis is awesome, but I am just dying for some info on the Sutton Place part of the project. I wonder when we'll get some details?

Wont start until 2018. Still working through design.....no I haven't seen it yet.

Just knowing a start is likely to happen in the next year and a half is good news.

I was walking by the site and thinking about the Sutton Place block... hear me out on this. Doesn't TNS' developer now control the former Hull's Books building on Graham? If that's the case, then the RWB residence would be the only building on the block they don't control.

I wonder if there is any possibility that TNS' developer could work out a deal with RWB to take over their residence and to then include the entire block in the redevelopment project? That way the prime corner at Graham and Carlton would be included in the Sutton Place block. They could then include a new RWB residence somewhere in that part of the TNS project... it might be better for RWB to have a nice new residence as part of that project rather than the current building which is starting to look out of place surrounded by giant highrises.

Yeah 2018 is just over 6 months away. Just sounds like 2018 is way in the future or something...with flying cars and all...

I think the chances of that happening are very slim...although that building does look very out of place and dated I don't think its more than 25 years old.
I wish TNSE could buy their residence so that they take up the entire east side of that block. It would be interesting if RWB could build a residence over their large parkade, but I think the city owns that so that likely wouldn't happen.

Do they actually control the building (former Hulls)? PCL has their site office in there, but are likely just renting. They do that a lot.
