Was interesting to see this guy use the control panel to turn the machine (what's it called?) that slowly twists and digs the metal casing into the ground.

this is going on in the area, but the stuff you're referring to isn't quite in the right spot, so I am not sure if there is any connection

The Transbay Transit Center Streetscape Project, Phase 1, will bring much needed pedestrian improvements near the area of First and Mission streets. The project will add a mid-block pedestrian crosswalk signal and bulb-outs at the Shaw Alley and Mission Street intersection. This project also will widen the sidewalk along the north side of Mission Street between Fremont Street and First Street as well as First Street between Mission and Minna streets.

That’s Kilroy Realty’s Postmodern 100 First Street, which houses their SF office and Delta Dental’s headquarters. I couldn’t find any renovation info that would entail protective scaffolding.

Does anybody have information on the timetable for wrapping up the caison work and beginning the actual excavation? Since they've been at the caisons for around 15 months now (first post showing that here was in Jan 2017), you'd think they'd be close to finishing that.

Pile installation started in July 2017 and should be wrapping up within the next month or so (from what I've observed).

During Jan and Feb of 2017, the piling work was just for the test piles. Since the drill rig is so large it just sat on the site after it had completed those piles making it seem it was working.

I'd assume excavation will be underway by May or June 2018, but I don't know specifics for that.

Before they can start excavation they also need to finish the shoring wall which is more than halfway complete, the first part being installed in May/June 2017 and the other sections being installed from Nov 2017 to Jan 2018, maybe they will finish the wall in April or May 2018 would be my guess.

You can follow this page for updates;

Also, Mission Street tower has a tower crane permit

^^Thanks.

I figured there was a site like you linked but I didn't know about that specific one and sometimes they don't keep those contractor sites very up to date like this one seems to be.

So I guess we should see a big hole develop this summer.

Not much change, but since I was in the neighborhood last week...
The machine furthest away was drilling on the First Street side.

Seems like we lost the OxBlue construction webcam for this project. Hopefully it is only temporarily down like the Park Tower cam. If anyone finds it again or another one, please let me know.

Walked by here yesterday and asked the only worker I could grab (he was manning the gate for trucks coming and going) "when are they going to start digging the big hole?". For what it's worth--probably not too much--he said, "Probably next month". I hope he's right.

Yeah...remember how long the whole prep process took with Salesforce, then it shot up rapidly.

We need more pictures, Timbad. And more often, since we've lost access to our Oxblue cameras... ))

Thought I'd share another view. Props for leaving the bbq up there.

Malcolm's packing up and shipping out - and the base for one tower crane's in. I'd guess excavation to start soon...
