Canadians prefer bashing Canada. If something positive is ever said about our country, kool claims it's just some sort of attempt to separate ourselves from the US, or draw parallels between Canada and Europe (even if someone claims to prefer soccer to basketball). I like most of what that guy says, but this sort of thing gets tiresome.

Small City Newspaper

Small City Forumer: OMG WE ARE DETROIT NOW.
Winnipeg Forumer: WE CAN'T GO OUTSIDE OR WE GET ASSASSINATED
Toronto Forumers: *photo of a storefront during a protest by homeless people 15 years ago* LOOK AT VANCOUVER'S EAST SIDE!!!
Racist Forumers: NATIVE PEOPLE ARE WELFARE BUMS!!

Oh, I forgot:

Caribbean-Canadian Forumers: ONLY 37 HOMICIDES? WE HAVE A LOT OF WORK TO DO TO CATCH UP!! Last year there were 41!!!!!

Our discussions about the military are pretty pathetic, too.

BC Forumer: What if the Russians invade us from the ARCTIC?!?!?!?

Quebec Forumers: We don't need a military.
Alberta Forumer: What if the Chinese invade us from the PACIFIC?!?!?!?!
Ontario Forumers: They won't.
Liberal Forumers: The Conservatives are warmongering NEOCONS!!!!

BTW, buckeye, you can stop begging for Canadians to bash the United States in skybar. They get it, and we get it; I'm proud of them for not taking the sad bait.
I don't think its bait, I think they're being too polite in refraining from criticism.

I would like Americans to realize how awful and stupid we look to the rest of the world, and that thread is the perfect opportunity for our northern neighbors to come clean with their disdain. We learn a lot more from criticism than praise.

One of my brother's childhood friends John. He posted this pic of him with "Santa" on his Facebook page. He's the one on the right. See Santa's creepy gaze???? (John is now an engineer with Underwriters Laboratory in Chicago. He would kill me if I was posting this).

He's staring at the camera as if he's daring the picture taker to do something about the fact that he's touching both kids' crotches.

Jesus, and I thought Flagstaff to Orange County to Phoenix and back to Flagstaff was a ridiculously long drive. Then again, I did the entire trip by myself...

I'll be driving that trip by myself, though couch surfing along the way.

from last week through the end of March I'll probably end up driving over 6,000 miles.

I don't mind it one bit, to be honest.

I've clocked a lot of hours of driving time in my short life, but nothing is as excruciatingly boring as the stretch of I-40 between Barstow, California and Kingman, Arizona. Aside from Needles (and that's not saying much), there's literally nothing on that 200 mile stretch of highway.

I-80 is ridiculously empty, particularly in Utah and through northern Nevada, but, the most boring drive for me is I-40 and I-70 through the plains states. I-65 is deathly, too.

But I'd prefer wide open spaces of nothing with basins and ranges as opposed to farmland.

Traveling across I-90 in South Dakota can be brutal as well, (minus the billboards for Wall Drug).

Talk about raised expectations. My cousin and I stopped there because we had seen signs for it all day, and were pretty disappointed to find out that it was pretty much just a pharmacy...and a T-Rex.
