Great pics Nightsky! I will be visiting HK and mainland China for the first time in just over a month. Like you I have always dreamed of visiting Hong Kong since I was a small child. I used to sit in the library staring at books of cities for hours on end, completely fascinated. Hong Kong has always stood out to me as one of the most interesting cities in the world. I can't wait to see it in person.

It was exactly the same for me.
Don't miss Wan chai, that is even more exciting then Central, and don't skip the south part of the island (Stanley, Repulse Bay, Aberdeen etc) just because there are very few skyscrapers, because this side is very nice.

Will post more photos from central HK soon.

Great Photos Nightsky! You give us a nice variety of shots. Very interesting, better than watching paint dry, without a doubt. Of course, I am biased or partial to all the skyscraper pictures, that is why I came here in the first place. Looking up at the IFC building makes me tingle, even from a photograph. Imagine falling off a turnip truck and looking up at that for the first time.

Thank you DGodin, your comment is much appreciated! Yes the skyscrapers and skyline was the main reason for visiting HK, but also much else like the food, the water, the temples, the parks, the trams, the culture...and the proximity to Macau, Shenzhen and Guangzhou that also are real skyscraper cities! More photos will be posted.

The Center, one of the tallest skyscrapers in Hong Kong.

The plaza in front of the Center.

The atrium was featured in a Batman movie.

CENTRAL – MID LEVELS ESCALATOR:

Central-Mid-Levels Escalator is the longest escalator system in the world, over 800m. It begins near Central Market and The Center in Central, passes SoHo, Hollywood Road, NoHo and ends at Mid-Level, a fashionable district up in the mountains, 135m higher then the lower parts. More then
55 000 people passes every day.

It begins in Central:

…at Central Market.

Passing SoHo area.

Ends at Conduit Road, 135m above the lowest parts.

Conduit Road.

Pubs of SoHo, mosques, skyscrapers, markets. All these images above where seen from the ride along the Central-Mid-Levels Escalator! Don’t hesitate to ask questions.
