Macau, a little piece of Europe... in China

I only spent a night there (arrived in the evening and left in the morning...). I should have spent more time in there... it felt like a dream with all those casinos, highrise hotels and old European architecture. You get that feeling when you dream and see things which are "not supposed" to be there. An extremely interesting place where I sure will come back

Macau is one of very few places where I could actually afford a high class hotel... hotels seem incredibly cheap there

Sorry for so few pics... this is due to the lack of time and rain which made it impossible to photograph after I took these few photos. I actually spent the evening browsing internet in the hotel and watching TV... what a pleasure

Interesting - the baroque style catholic church in the midst of an Asian city is quite surreal!!

I guess hotels are cheap because of all the gambling?

Great shots of someplace I have never seen, not even in magazines. Thanks for sharing!

Now that's an interesting mix! I really like the colours and historic architecture but I don't like the neon signage on those older buildings! Shame on them.

I only see about 3 buildings that look anything like Europe (and one is decked in neon), but nice pics. Apparently a very fun place to go gamble, etc.

Wow, how did I miss this thread? Seems like you got around a bit despite only staying for one night, Jonas. There's a lot to see in this tiny, hyper-dense city.
I have a bunch of Macau photos on a harddrive waiting to be processed. I think I should do it soon...

Cheers.

Thanks staff.
Macau is a fascinating city with some sick-looking casino buidings and hotels (due to lack of time and rain didn't take any shots of that area) accompanied with some traditional European architecture, plus the beautiful landscape... in fact I didn't even plan to go to Macau during my last Asia trip but it was about the only cheap way of getting from Bangkok to HK since AirAsia didn't have direct flights to HK then... so I got to stay in Macau overnight and now I'm sort of regretting for not staying there for at least 2 nights. But surely, I'll come there in the future
And I'd love to see photos you've got since Macau seems to be a black spot even in this forum which is unfair.

To be honest, I can't even remember how Macau airport looked like... it was by no means the most impressive airport I've seen... well, compared to those flashy structures I saw in HK, Bangkok and Singapore at least... Just a regular small airport.

Nice photos. I was just about to post my 14th and last part of my China trip with my Macau photos, but I guess I'll wait a while now.

Macau really has a unique mix of different building styles.

Hey, Raptor, no need to wait! If you look at the date this thread was posted, you'll notice it was back in October 2007!
So post your stuff asap!
