I think we will still be competitive, we get to use our best KHL and European league players, and the other countries don't get to use their very best players (NHL) either.

If anyone is willing to watch the first Sochi Hockey Open game tomorrow (Canada vs Sochi) live, here's the link

This team will also be participating in the 2017 Tournament of Nikolai Puchkov from Aug. 14-17 after the SHO tournament, and is apparently Canada's best "B" team to participate in the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics.

Chiarelli just screwed us over when it comes time to sign Matthews, Nylander, and Marner by setting that precedent. We need a Canadian dollar comeback and cap increase fast.

Poile did that to the Oilers with Johansen's contract.

I'm sorry, but are we the fans paid to worry about how our teams' money is spent?
As an Oiler fan, I'm more than happy to have McDavid and Leon locked up together for arguably their best years as NHLers
There's a chance the cap increases over then next 8 years and that could afford the Oil the ability to still sign important players.
Worst case, RNH is a casualty, possibly Maroon as well if he hits 25+ goals again this season
I am rejoicing

Markov was better than Weber for a big chunk of last season and actually outproduced him offensively. You are not going to find better value for your money than #79. Just more auto-destruction by Bergevin (not that I care anymore).

Jugding by the KHL stats, he leads his team in points (he has created a bit of a lead even among forwards) and is at the top of D-man scoring in the league.

You can't be serious. That would be a step backward for a team that has essentially treaded water this offseason in terms of improvement.

But it would all be worth it for Oilers fans to see Iginla win a cup 3 hours north of Calgary.

He still has skill, fight, dressing room and can score.

Do a 1 + 1 IMO.

I will hate Iggy if he becomes an Oiler.

I'm actually in favour of him coming back to Calgary now, I think we have enough skill and young and upcoming talent, Iggy has heart and he played really well with the Kings for that short stint.
