^ Ha, that would be so wonderful...

There must be a bit of subsidized social housing in there, though. Hopefully it is fairly allocated this time, not just for municipal employees (the local left wing is hugely annoying for their everlasting clientelism, that's shockingly unfair), so the poor locals are not harshly driven away from their own place by simple-minded gentrification, and finally get a chance of living a decent and ambitious neighborhood.
That'd be truly inspiring, huh?

Great project anyway. Possibly the biggest improvement to come up at the moment.
I think the surroundings are to host the 2024 Olympic village.

Awesome for la Défense.

https://www.artefactorylab.com/pca/

Holy sh$t, that is enhancement over the rundown buildings that are on the spot for now.
That thing has a chunk of capital behind it. The Total corporation whose logo is showed off at the top is a stinky oil company... But they also fund renewables now, just in case (they want to survive and take over anything, if they can). So I wouldn't mind having their logo up there. And it's funded by some large insurance/banking corporation. Groupama if I remember well.

On the opposite side of the gigantic axis starting from the Louvre is still supposed to be the supertall twins of Hermitage, which is an outsider, but insolently giant venture... Hell, I have faith anyway! This whole thing might be built for our Olympics!

You don't seriously think we're going to keep that thing rundown when all cameras and the media of the entire world will be shooting the city, right?

Wow, that's really nice. Color us jealous here in LA.

I think Paris has the best skyline in all of Europe. These projects are fantastic, thank you for sharing.

It would be cool if they could build completely over the tracks, like Hudson Yards in NY.

That is what's currently happening in the 13th district of Paris and other parts of Paris, but I don't think they'll be covering those tracks for a while... At least it's a project being talked about. Let's see !

VINCI's new HQ is in Nanterre, a suburb currently upgraded with a bit of la Défense within the municipal boundaries.
I think the segment of line A of the RER nearby the Hauts-de-Seine prefecture was partially covered, with new buildings over and around; but of course, this type of process adds cost and time to development.
They can afford doing it in the 13th arrondissement to a pretty large scale, where real estate prices and needs can explain it.
Not in Nanterre yet. Although it's been improved rather seriously already. Otherwise, VINCI wouldn't even go there.

Man, Paris sure has some funky fresh skyscrapers going up, wish American cities had balls for buildings like this.

Nice view from the top of the Grande Arche today where a temporary farm was installed. I know... what the hell ?! They even managed to bring up cows, donkeys, sheeps, rabbits...etc.

I got to say I'm proud of the new Paris courthouse and of "Indy G" (why dumbass Indiana Jones, really?), a mod of Skyscrapercity who must also be an official of the national Justice department over here.
Stealing some of his pics. First, the scary beast from outside.

Solar panels and all. Modern. Understated. Soviet looks.
Creepy as a courthouse should be.
Classy.

Some interior.

Fascinating. I swear this is my next visit for the "journée du patrimoine". It looks like a gigantic Apple store with Iphones left outside.

Make no mistake, our Justice department cruelly lacks money anyway.

If I was in charge like prez Macron, I would ease business for the private sector, for some time, just like that, like a double-faced man.
Then once they're all rich, harshly tax them all by tripling the salaries of all public employees.
Especially those of the Education ministry. Public employees are shockingly underpaid here in France.
I think that's basically the plan of our current prez, Macron. I'm excited about it.

"Paris closes gap on London as corporate hub"

Ian Smith, Financial Times, 04/06/2018

https://www.ft.com/content/9e0d8c2c-...8-2f31af407cc8

"London has maintained its position as the most popular location for Europe’s fastest growing companies but Paris is closing the gap as Brexit approaches."

[…]

"The FT 1000 list, now in its second year, ranks companies by their revenue growth between 2013 and 2016. London is home to 74 of the businesses that made the list, followed by Paris on 62 and Milan on 25. The gap between the UK and French capitals has fallen from 33 in 2017’s list to just 12 this year."
