Im sharing data from which much can be inferred, year-over-year growth, airports surpassing others, reasons for increase or decrease, flight announcements, etc, lots of things--just dont tell me this is misleading. Refer any complaints to the Airports Council International.

For example, I wonder if Beijing Capital might be maxing out as far as growth seeing how Shanghai and Guangzhou are growing way faster now?

Also New Delhi leapfrogged past 6 airports from 22nd to 16th.

I like the airport list and check it every year. Always interesting to see which are growing, slowing, and compare aircraft movements to passengers.

I've been lucky enough to have traveled to 12/20 in terms of passengers and 16/20 in terms of movements from these lists. The two most surprising omissions for me given my travel history are AMS and FRA. Been to a bunch of the other airports in that part of the continent, but not those two.

Both New York and Tokyo have multiple big international airports. If this was a measure of air traffic, this list would look a bit different.

Considering that Beijing's new airport at Daxing will be opening next year, it's pretty safe to assume that PEK is maxed out. PVG's numbers are smaller than they otherwise might be as SHA (Hongqiao) has 40 million passengers per year on its own. But with PVG's new satellite terminal opening up next year, the numbers for PVG will probably continue to grow rapidly.

Yeah, but metro NY is undoubtedly greater than say, three metro Denvers in pretty much any category. Not that Denver isn't a cool city of course.

London Stansted 25,902,618

Aggregated data per metro would be interesting. 170 million for London is incredible!

Chicago with ORD and MDW would be about 101 million. I can't imagine Gary or Rockford add even a million to that, even if you wanted to include them. I looked it up - about 100,000 for Rockford and about 5,000 for Gary, lol.

I think LAX will probably overtake Tokyo Haneda and Dubai after the Midfield Satellite Concourse is completed. That building will provide 12 additional wide-body gates.

Greater Los Angeles handled 108 million passengers in 2017.

Los Angeles International Airport: 84,557,968
John Wayne Airport: 10,423,578
Hollywood Burbank Airport: 4,739,466
Ontario International Airport: 4,552,225
Long Beach Airport: 3,783,805

San Bernardino International Airport also has domestic and international commercial service but I can't find its passenger figure for 2017.
