Who knows if it actually matters anymore, but the ELAD group just won rights to use the Plaza name.

According to this Globe Street report, CityCenter is now costing over $11 Billion. I hadn't heard that figure before.

encore has 2 (or 3) story suite on the end of the tower - on all floors - these things are huge - and completely light up the left side shaft of the tower - in a very distracting way - every tower on the strip has glass that is pretty much translusant but not transparant - this is so people on the street cannt see how emty or full the hotel is. but one cant see completely into the suites on the end of encores tower - the entire shaft is almost just as bright as the encore sign!

http://vegasrex.com/ - just posted a videopodcast - and just by thescreenshot of todays post (he usually posts every other day) you can see how brightly lit the interior makes the tower off balance - or at least - distracting....kinda in a good way - its interesting

MGM MIRAGE still officially refers to it as an approx. $9.2-billion development. The $11b number reflects land value, etc.

The $11 billion figure is before residential sales are factored in. Since MGM thinks that residential sales will yield $2 billion to subsidize the project, it considers the entire project around $9 billion.

Does anyone know of a Vdara owners web site that has been started? If so, I would appreciate the link.

MGM owns www.vdaraowners.com, but there is nothing there currently.

Thanks. I was looking more for a discussion board that the owners themselves had started. I think there is one for the Cosmo owners but can't find one for Vdara. If anyone knows of any I would appreciate the link.

There is one at suitewave.com for Vdara, is this is the same one you are talking about for The Cosmopolitan? On that board we are getting together a group to get our deposits back. I wonder how many condo-hotels will close now that the banks want 40% down and 7% to 11% interest...crazy.

No. They did, however, raise one of the tower cranes quite a bit a couple days ago.

Yes, that is the one. They have a pretty good Cosmo board but not much for Vdara. I completely understand getting your deposit back. We plan on closing but wanted to talk with other Vdara owners about rental programs, ect. Thanks for the info.

Here's a video on youtube which has photos within Encore and some renderings. I wish it was better quality though...

The World Jewelry Center seems to be on the right track, lets all keep our fingers crossed for a 2009 groundbreaking! It's great that after the topping out of the current new tallest soon comes the construction of the next new tallest...

I'm assuming that Mandarin would have topped out already, but haven't heard any announcements?

interesting tidbit

Rumor has it that Switch, the Mark Poidevin-helmed restaurant slated to open soon at Encore at Wynn….or Encore at THE Wynn or THE Encore at THE Wynn, will have a design and decor that switches mid-way through every evening. Get it? This change-o-rama will include: a ceiling that turns over, window and wall coverings that transform themselves….and costume conversions for the entire staff….once a night every night.
