i didn't get a picture, but they have the rebar up for the column that will support the diagonal walkway from the cosmo. it's a "V" shape in the median of the road and you can kinda see it in the third picture up from the bottom of the last page.

Sorry if I keep sounding redundant on Fountainebleau but I am pumped! Can anyone tell if they are now working on the crown floors yet or are they going to continue working on more standard floorplates and go beyond the stated height, if so I'd very much appreciate it...

Echelon resort likely delayed through 2009

http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2008/oct/28/bo/?latest

"Boyd Gaming, which hoped to resume work on its stalled Echelon resort on the Strip next year, says the deteriorating economy will likely delay those plans through the end of 2009."

"During a conference call to discuss the worst quarterly declines in company history, Boyd executives said the company will explore alternatives in the coming year, including the possibility of building Echelon on a smaller scale, developing the project in phases rather than all at once as originally planned and securing additional business partners."

It would by far make the most sense to keep building on what is already under construction such as the main tower which is already 10 floors up...

Looks like it's going to be years before the next building boom starts again.

Re: Echelon, my dream would be if they stopped building the Shangri-la and moved forward with the main two towers. It's such a blocky appendage compared to the sleeker resort and suite tower. Building on a smaller scale would be a waste, I think, even if it would benefit Boyd the most right now. Unless Las Vegas has peaked and we'll only see a decline from here on in, come 2010 (optimistically) or 2012, things will heat up again and that is too valuable of a piece of property to have just a Station-sized resort on hand. Phasing would be a better idea.

Boyd should consider this an opportunity to rebrand this property to a known brand such as "Stardust" or Borgata". Maybe build 2 properties with both names on it. There is certainly enough land to accomplish this. Also, taking this property down to a mid-market level such as TI or Mirage might also benefit Boyd.

I disagree, there is already a thread for City Center. Also Echelon, Fountainebleau, and the World Jewelry Center will continue to recieve plenty of attention...

That's exactly right. Just call it "The New Stardust" and finish the main towers. Forget the mall and the boutique hotels - just build a low-maintenance xeriscape desert park (or even a small zoo like The Living Desert in Palm Desert, CA) as a tourist attraction to fill up the big space between the hotel and the parking garage until it's time to add to the property.

Actually it's what they should have done in the first place, while leaving the "old" Stardust intact and building around it.

Hey guys! Long time lurker first time poster.

I drive by the Echelon everyday and even when they said that it was on hold I saw men painting the side of the parking garage almost everyday on my way to UNLV. I was a bit saddened to see the Echelon on hold but my spirits were lifted when I saw men working on it just about everyday. I love to see huge projects come to completion.

If it were not for the traffic on the strip I would snap pics from time to time (of projects on the strip).
