Drove past there at lunch today. Looks pretty deep. Anyone have an update on the depth?
And what's the max depth they have to dig to?

^Yeah. Ben Myers from Fortress posted in the SkyCity thread, (he checks from in time to time. Probably checks in here too.)

He had said they let it lapse and will be re-applying in the new year. I guess $75k is no biggie to them. They still intend to start construction on SkyCity next spring. Grain of salt of course, we know how these things go.

The only problem is the viewing angle skews things... just look at how the height of the truck differs on the Viterra building across the way. You can't go straight down like that.

Taking into account the viewing perspective...

I would guess that truck is about 10' tall, which would come out to around Gdaniels' 26' of 48' (taking into account viewing angle) at the time the photo was taken.

---

As far as Fortress goes... I thought they actually completed a smaller Ontario project over the last while? Not sure if I remember correctly. Seems like they might be trying to work through their inventory from small to big? It could help them build up the funding for the larger Winnipeg project if they actually completed the Regina one. Though of course, everything is pretty hypothetical at this point given history and all that.

I'm pretty sure you missed the part where I said the science was unimpeachable.

What actually surprises me is that they seem to be on schedule for that. They completed test holes and sales have been on pace for their original construction target.we'll know more in the coming months but it seems to be going suspiciously smoothly

Won't get into SkyCity too much here. But it seems there is a legit chance that one goes ahead. They have the sales target, had excavation permits. Construction drawings look like they're far along. Materials are finalized. Still say they're on the original timeline for early 2017 construction start. So we'll see what happens.

Fortress has completed numerous projects in Ontario. Just so everyones aware. They're not a complete sham.

This is not correct to my knowledge. Show me one building where Fortress acted as developer and completed it.

They have been involved in a financing capacity on some completed projects, but never as a developer. They also have multiple lawsuits against them based on how they raise the financing (scamming unsophisticated investors out of their retirement money) and regulators are investigating. The track record of the owners of Fortress is clear. During their previous venture, Jawad Rathore and Vince Petrozza were caught scamming investors and banned from the mutual fund industry for life. Unfortunately due to a technicality the ban does not apply to syndicated mortgages.

Heard alllllll about Jawad and co's dealings. Well aware. They walk the line of legality.

Okay, you're right on the developer part. They've been "involved in" numerous projects that have been completed. Meaning their financial schemes actually got things built. I really don't care though. Just saying here's hoping things work out. If it doesn't, oh well.

I don't have final drawings. This project is sketchy, it appears like they give some money out for excavation, that runs out and then work stops until another payment is made, or they can get a progress draw from the bank. I don't like it.
