Exclamation Wanted: Youth on Urbanism

Hi all,

I'm searching for some (preferably Canadian) youth for a panel at a national urbanism conference in Ottawa this year. I'm looking for some students, activists and/or bloggers who are passionate about our cities, their problems and their potential who are reasonably eloquent.

Do you guys know of any people or blogs I should check out?

SSPer Dave Lane is a member of St. John's Council. Not sure if he qualifies as youth, but he's very young.

I definitely know a few people that would fit the bill, but they are in Edmonton.

I'm mostly looking for u30's active or passionate about urbanism or perhaps people over 30 who've researched the impacts in our cities of the changing preferences and habits of youth.

I'll take all suggestions right now since I'm just building up a longlist of potential panelists. It'll get winnowed down later, but for now I just want an idea of who's out there.

I'm not sure how qualified I really am as I have only minimal academic connection to urban planning, but as a 29-year-old who has lived in multiple countries, in suburban, urban, and downtown areas, with widely varying levels of public transit, I think that I bring passion to the subject. I'm a very strong proponent of community-focused mixed use development and I hate suburban wastelands with a passion.

I'm 24 and working as an urban designer in Hong Kong. Originally from Halifax. Very passionate about urban issues in these two cities, and reasonably familiar with developments in major Canadian cities (especially Toronto). Can send you my CV and some writing samples if you like.

I'm glad this has piqued some interest! I'll PM people who've expressed it.
