It's interesting that they are going through this again. They had 3 different concepts submitted last fall at some point as well. Looks like they scrapped the original RFP and reopened it.

We talked a little about this building earlier this spring. Its the building located in the renderings for the new urban park planned for that same block.

It looks like the plaza is centered around an east-west axis feature with several different zones built into it. Also interesting to note, they are showing a proposed building on the southeast corner of the block next to shriners.

looking at gglo's website, its shows an initial concept. Given the amount of detail on the proposed building in the renderings, my guess is rafanelli and nahas (the land owner) had this study done to look at how to integrate a plaza and their building. This may or may not have an actual connection the current plaza under development. Stil, hopefully some version of this comes true. It looks awesome!

curious that the article and submittal for the new building stats 10 floors, but the rendering clearly only shows 9.

I wonder if they're counting a rooftop deck as the 10th floor? hate when they do that.

A Boise church lost a bitter fight to develop this lot. Now it may build housing there

Officials at the Cathedral of the Rockies may develop an affordable housing complex on a sought-after block adjacent to the Gothic Revival church in Boise's Near North End.

The block was at the center of a bitter preservation fight about 15 years ago. Today it is a basically empty lot that, depending on your point of view, is either a squandered opportunity or a flourishing community garden doubling as a teaching farm.

The cathedral has scheduled a meeting for its congregation on Wednesday, June 20, to talk about the block's future.

Jerri Walker, executive director of the Methodist cathedral at 717 N. 11 St., said the church notified the congregation via email on Friday of the meeting to discuss so-called Lot 75, which is bounded by Fort, Hays, 11th and 12th streets. Another meeting, for neighbors and other affected parties, is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, July 11.

Continuing on the new office development. The new park that will be its neighbor had an open house last night. There are currently two different options and the documents post online as well. There is an article in the Idaho Press today as well:

BOISE — An entire city block on the western side of downtown Boise may soon see a whole new lease on life.

Currently a parking lot, the city block between Bannock and Idaho streets at the intersection of 11th Street is slated to become an urban park alongside a proposed 10-story office building. While developers Rafanelli & Nahas have not set a date for groundbreaking on the building, the city of Boise is looking to transform the expanse of asphalt into a public green space in the spring of 2019.

Thursday evening, a dozen residents attended an open house to give input on possible designs of the park. Unlike a traditional park featuring large open fields and playgrounds, Boise Parks and Recreation Director Doug Holloway said this park will be cater to downtown visitors who want an interactive space for events.

Interesting article today in the Idaho Press Tribune today entitled "Amazon Developer Proposes 850,000 Square-Foot Warehouse in Nampa." Possible Amazon Distribution Center coming to the valley. Not directly in Boise, but would be a major get for the whole valley.

Boise State baseball stadium news...

Boise State University got approval from the state Board of Education on Thursday to spend $500,000 on planning and design for a new baseball stadium on campus that will cost a total of $8 million to $10 million and open for play in 2020.

The new stadium will include an NCAA regulation baseball field with an artificial turf outfield, team dugouts, spectator bleacher seating with press box, restrooms, perimeter fencing and some on-site parking. Future additions could include expanded grandstand-style seating, visiting and home team locker rooms and coaches’ offices, an indoor hitting facility, covered bullpens, concession stands and more parking.
