Fire crews fight condo fire in New Westminster
Wednesday, September 26 - 05:35:14 PM

Kim Seale/Tamiko Nicholson
New Westminster (NEWS1130) - A massive fire is burning in New Westminster. News1130's Kim Seale with airbourne traffic can see giant flames coming up from a condo development near Royal Columbian Hospital. She says the building looks fully engulfed and there are hundreds of people out on the street watching it happen. One caller tells us he is watching the blaze just off Brunette Avenue and Columbia, and says there is a lot of smoke billowing out. Smoke can even be seen from across the Fraser River in Surrey.

I can actually see the smoke from here in Burnaby

Very massive... Will give you pictures and news reports once they are up. (Gloabl 1 was just covering this minutes ago, usually they only do traffic, if they do a news item, it is most likely something big)

Latest Update:
The New Westminster Condo development beside the hospital was expected to be completed in one month according to Leah Holive - Global 1. The condo project is 26 million dollars. The hospital has closed one of their fresh air intakes because of the fire.

Saw the coverage on Global News. Don't know why Tony Parsons was asking Leah Holiove if she knew of any injuries on the ground when she is clearly in a bloody helicopter flying in the sky...?

The burnt section in the condo was not as completed as the rest of the landing, however, I'm sure the entire project suffered major smoke and water damage.
