Also their infrastructure isn't practical for a vast landscape such as Canada. We're much better off following the American designs.

Disregarding the suicide aspect ofyour comment ..... I can only say that I half-agree with your statement of following American design models.
Their Interstate Highway system beats our system, sure, but it has led to a very car-oriented society there.
Now, American cities (many of them anyway) are looking to Canada, even our smaller major cities, such as Calgary, for transit design.
Seattle finally got around to putting in LRT, but it's nowhere near as efficient as Skytrain/Canada Line, and carries something like 10 or 15% of what Vancouver's system carries, be it daily/monthly/yearly.
Conversely, Downtown Vancouver is often gridlocked with cars, and I'd love to see something like a Big Dig in Vancouver - to get the cars through and out of downtown. I know the Big Dig is is "politically incorrect," but I think our road system is underdeveloped, esp downtown, and I'm not ashamed to say so.
(Take a look at the SFPR disaster, using traffic lights instead of ramp interchanges, and voilà: perfect example. That would not happen in the USA)
