Metro-One's Vancouver Tribute

So, about 8 months ago I moved to Japan and I look to be staying as far as I can see into the foreseeable future.

I worked as a videoaugrapher and many times after filming I would quickly get a shot or two of Vancouver.

I edited together some of my favorite clips I captured throughout the last few years into this video. Some of the clips I have posted before in smaller videos. I hope to film some more in the future and to keep improving upon this project.

Please enjoy!

PS: If you like this video, please share, I have never been able to get a youtube video get more than a hundred or so views, I have no idea how people get their videos viewed...

PPS: Be sure to watch it in HD.

Thanks man, I am in Shikoku (四国). It is amazing, I am in a city of about 100 000 but they have the same number (if not more) bars and clubs than downtown Vancouver. I love seeing all the aspects of Japanese infrastructure that would never fly in Vancouver.

Japan has the highest suicide rate in the world and their population is decreasing due to low birth rates

Also their infrastructure isn't practical for a vast landscape such as Canada. We're much better off following the American designs.

Not trolling at all. Your boosterism of everything Japanese is quite irritating. Just pointing out that everything over there isn't as rosy as you like to paint it. Japan is a tiny island. The 2 lane expressways and intercity commuter rails just aren't practical in most of Canada like they are in Japan. Please stop comparing the 2 countries.

Thanks for the comment giallo. I know you are in China so we are not too far away from each other now, hehe.

Nice video and all the best in Japan! I love the country and its cities, but I couldn't move there because of the crazy work culture and hours.

It is long work hours, but you also party hard with your coworkers after.

Nothing beat summer in Vancouver, I know when the high humidity and heat hits here I will be wishing to be back on the South Coast!

Disregarding the suicide aspect ofyour comment ..... I can only say that I half-agree with your statement of following American design models.
Their Interstate Highway system beats our system, sure, but it has led to a very car-oriented society there.
Now, American cities (many of them anyway) are looking to Canada, even our smaller major cities, such as Calgary, for transit design.
Seattle finally got around to putting in LRT, but it's nowhere near as efficient as Skytrain/Canada Line, and carries something like 10 or 15% of what Vancouver's system carries, be it daily/monthly/yearly.
Conversely, Downtown Vancouver is often gridlocked with cars, and I'd love to see something like a Big Dig in Vancouver - to get the cars through and out of downtown. I know the Big Dig is is "politically incorrect," but I think our road system is underdeveloped, esp downtown, and I'm not ashamed to say so.
(Take a look at the SFPR disaster, using traffic lights instead of ramp interchanges, and voilà: perfect example. That would not happen in the USA)
