What a mess. A mess of white and orange lighting. Just sums up how Toronto's street lighting system is through the city. Not a bad thing, just interesting.

^yup. From the street angle, could be the most bad-assed urban canyon in the country.

The white light is coming from the buildings. Especially in Dundas Square.

Toronto definitely does have a weird mix in the inner city though - some streets switched over to the orange sodium vapour lights and some kept the old acorn ones. IIRC the entirety of Old Toronto was supposed to switch over but there was enough of a complaint they stopped the program and found a relatively energy efficient solution to keep the white lights. They just never switched the ones already changed back...

I live close to Victoria Park Avenue which is the border between Toronto and Scarborough. One side of the street has white lights while the other is orange. It also has fire hydrants on each side.

I meant ayleast along certain areas like the new park next to the Goooderham building and along Yonge. Some white light is certainly from several buildings. Personally, I'd prefer if most of the downtown area had those acorn lights....and if they kept replacing them in Midtown.

Rare to see a good canyon shot out of Vancouver, the building heights and spacing requirements just don't make for good canyon shots.

The Toronto urban canyons shown on this page look great.....the Vancouver one steals the show for me.

I've always thought that it had the potential to become that. I'd say it's there now. Goes to show you don't need the tallest buildings in the country to create the best urban canyon. And it's still improving.
