^glad this passed, but i'll miss that murchies. you can pass an afternoon with a nice tea set there, served up on a battered but still ornate-for-its-time silver tray, for like $3-4. strongly recommend going while its there, if you like tea with your wifi.

Thanks for posting -

A bit of a concern that the render shown is this
(why do I think the peaked roof is gone to accommodate the cut-off density?):

The floorplans show the chamfered (cut-off) NW corner to appease Jameson House residents:

Hey, maybe - if there is enough customer demand voiced - they could re-establish themselves in the new building. Nothing like a touch of "old world" class here and there, especially in a modern, young city like ours.

I'm sure murchies isn't just going to close shop because their lease expires/terminates. I'm sure they will find a new space.

I wonder how much pent-up demand for downtown space there is and what (if any) big moves we will see. Perhaps it will open up redevelopment of one of the smaller buildings hunkering around.

Yes, I agree with you, but will it be in this particular building, or just somewhere in the 'hood?

Probably somewhere in the area, moving back into this building would involve shutting down for 2-3 years for construction, which most retailers wouldn't do.

Kinda encourages your customer base to seek alternatives...

In the above render, the building is simply rectangular. Will it still have that sloping, pointed roof when finished? Hope so. Looks snazzy.

Nice to see this going ahead. Can any engineers/architects explain how the new tower "attaches" to the Exchange building, or is it merely the facade of the old building being retained?

Nice panorama! One can't deny that this building is going to be pretty close to Jameson and at least I wouldn't want to be living on the southeast side of the building because of that.

BTW, they also have an even nicer panorama from the penthouse level. Strange that the view seems to be from so much higher than 29th floor. Nice roof-top patio on Jameson!

I for one sure as heck hope so. The original design was just great. Much better than the usual glass box drek that passes for architecture in this city.

So true! Hey, maybe someone more knowledge on this could provide a link. There was one, but it didn't seem to open right or something. So, can somebody out there give a precise answer? That'd be great, and I'm sure a number of people may be wondering, too.

I was told that a redesign is in the works. No specifics though, so I have no idea whether it's just the facade or more than that. I think we'll just have to wait and see, I doubt I'll be able to get any more information.
