From what I gather, it has something to do with all the sales contracts for the units in One Madison Park. When this tower was being marketed early on, buyers were told about the second phase of the project, but that it would be a fairly small, short structure. The Koolhaus tower is significantly larger than what tenants were told would be built. What it boils down to is that if this tower is built, sales might be nullified in the larger tower.

There was activity on the lot today. Heavy equiptment and all... Has this been resurrected? Would be nice to get this going.

I believe this project, incredible as it is, is either VERY on hold...or deadzo. The work you're seeing is final prep before they begin marketing the units in One Madison Park again. My understanding is they are using this site as an access point to wrap up construction for that tower. At one time, if you recall, the two buildings were supposed to share a lobby or have a through-block connection...something to that effect.

I don't believe this is happening. Should be moved to cancel/never built forum.

This specific proposal is never happening, but land was sold to Extell, and is now part of a larger assemblage.
