Miami is putting/about to put up some awesome looking buildings! Wish Houston was as adventurous with the designs of their buildings.

^ This is not going to happen unless the state of Florida legalizes gambling.

A drive around Miami:

Starts at 7:38 mark :: Before that, some nice sights of downtown.

Video Link

Can see construction of City Centre and other projects.

What a "cheesey" video showing off "Brickell Key" which was nothing more than a "sand spit" off of downtown/Brickell and developed by Squire Properties back in the 1980's & 1990's to sell luxury condos!

Brickell Key 1960's! Man made island!:

I was recently in Miami and it seemed that literally every art deco building on collins and south beach was being renovated.

Yup, many of them are in various stages of renovation. Many of them historical, and are seeing either conversions, facade renovations, floor additions, the creation of parks or plazas, and so on. All along the coast up to Ft. Lauderdale and beyond. Also several condos going up that would be classified as mid rises and major projects near Sunny Isles that are in the 600 foot range.

Hopefully they can legalize at least gaming resorts. IDK about a whole state legalization effort, but in certain areas hopefully such as destination resorts. There are currently negotiations pertaining to this issue. I think the cash potential will speak, and they will agree upon it.

With Resorts World, the way its designed, doesn't scream tacky. I think it can pull it off. Sure its Dubai meets Miami, but its not overly extravagant and super ambitious compared to other projects in Dubai.

88 S.W. 10th Street has a possible 48 floor proposal. Details have not been revealed nor renderings, but a motive and intention has. Something to keep an eye on in the future.

Another day another proposal. This on for an 866-foot tower in the old CBD area.

Quote:
Architect Charles Sieger could be planning a residential tower in downtown Miami.

Earlier this month, an application was submitted to the feds to build an 866-foot tower called Liquid Lofts. It would be located at 37 SW 1st Street, on what is currently a parking garage. The applicant could not be determined.

Oh My.

Massive retail theme park proposed for Northwest Miami-Dade
http://www.miamiherald.com/news/loca...e12605384.html

Quote:
The company behind the largest mall in America wants to build an even larger one in northwestern Miami-Dade with a massive, 200-acre entertainment complex with submarine rides, a Legoland, sea lions and simulated ski slopes.

Tentatively titled American Dream Miami, the project at the intersection of Florida’s Turnpike and Interstate 75 in could cost as much as $4 billion to construct and probably become the largest private employer in Miami-Dade.

Developer Triple Five is the company behind Minnesota’s Mall of America, the largest shopping center in the world. County officials say the one planned for a site northwest of Miami Lakes would be the largest in Triple Five’s portfolio, meaning Miami-Dade could be home to the country’s largest mall.

River mega-marina first of its kind globally

Quote:
The architects working on a project on the Miami River for mega-yachts say it is the first of its kind in the world – everything in one location for the owners of the big boats.

The unique nature of the project came up Monday when the Miami River Commission approved an updated proposal for property owner and developer Homero Meruelo.

Formerly called Miami Mega Yacht Marina, the mixed-use project has been renamed SeaVault, alluding to a protective environment for the very exclusive vessels and their contents.

SeaVault is designed as a temporary home for 14 mega-yachts with living quarters for captain and crew. The plan includes a clubhouse, tennis court, swimming pool, cold storage building and private vehicle parking on a secured site with tropical landscaping.

One year ago this month the river commission approved the plan’s first version.

The changes are mostly cosmetic, according to the developer’s representative Tony Rodriguez-Tellaheche.

Made a thread for it for future updates and stuff. For now, just a map of the location and address with project name.

I will too. It was a great example of Miami Modern architecture of the 1960s. Can't wait to see a few generic white condo towers take its place

Or worse, this...

No its way NW on the edge of the Everglades. And all I can say is wtf is that? Like seriously, wtf? Is it by the same architect who designed the Marlins home run feature or Gulstreams 10-story Pegasus vs Dragon statue? Now we need a 25-story car exhaust pipe?

Yeah, it's actually kind of disturbing in a weird way to me. Wtf is right. Is it an enormous Nike tennis ball launcher? Some crazy giant Hot Wheels racing set? What the hell is it?!

I think for now its a concept, but the developer does want to build the nations largest mall/theme park. I'm sure the design will change as its still a while from even starting, but the idea sounds nice. Now they just need to make it look good.
