That's true for the Ping'An Tower.

But Shanghai is China's "flagship", it is supposed to be the most symbolic city of China's economic development. And it's also China's most populated urban area.

It's China's NYC, in other words.

In my opinion this tower beats all in terms of design quality and appearance. It is the most stunning supertall of the past 20 years.

Pardon my ignorance. Somewhat off topic here, but do we have a good, reliable idea about office vacancy in China and Shanghai specifically?

This is some info on office markets in China that I have found.

http://www.cbre.com.cn/EN/aboutus/me...14-REVIEW.aspx

Quote:
Overall vacancy rate stayed flat at 15.8% as at end of Q1 2014.
Quote:
Every Tier 2 city in this region except Dalian reported rental declines. In West China, Chengdu vacancy rate further climbed to a record high 43.9% by Q1, and consequently the rental decline widened to 2.3%, the sharpest decline nation-wide.

43.9% vacancy in Chengdu? That's not a good sign at all...

I did not know Shanghai WFC had a big base. I could not recolonize the building at first.

Still my favorite building though.

Unfortunately, the economy is very bad. I don't think its happening in a distant future. Hopefully the economy will get better.

^^^Superb photos. Shanghai looks like a spectacular city, and the river definitely adds to its appeal.

Not that there is anything wrong with that...still a great place to take in the view

I had to wiki Soi Cowboy.

Haha!

The bar is on top of a luxury spa called the Banyan Tree (which may be from Thailand, coincidentally). It's a very upscale hotel for couples. Not a ping pong ball in sight. It was ladies night when we went (we were the only three guys there besides the staff), so maybe that's why you thought it was one of 'those' places..
