Here are some interesting one's from 1963. This is just before Skyline took off. Look at all of those buildings!

I so wish I could go back in time and strap a collective pair of cement boots to all the urban planners during the mid 1900's and send them sinking to the bottom of a very deep lake for their egregious crimes against humanity and art.

Good stuff, Ryan.

Here's another one from the above photo's flickr collection:

Good things never change very much.

And another of 16th St, from Army Arch of Flickr

Here's one from 1966 where Skyline is starting to kick in. You can see some block long tears in the fabric, but still lots and lots of historic buildings in CBD / Arapahoe Square.

And here's another one. So many beautiful buildings... Gone.

Bit past Skyline Era, but still wonderful: Let's rebuild Coors Field.

So... After destroying a bunch of historic buildings in hopes of building towers, the oil bust happened and a lot got unbuilt. Here are just a few of the unbuilt towers from a website that doesn't exist anymore (www.denverskyscrapers.com).

Pre Skyline. Looking north into downtown from Golden Triangle

Source But google images imply that that source is not the true source.

No idea what else to do.

Crosspost of mine from the Denver thread. It demonstrates the new skyline that the Skyline Era built at the cost of some really cool buildings.

Someone used to have an old topcites site about Stapleton, but it died. Got a 2005 capture of that site from the wayback machine, though.

Here's a good one:

Probably the fall of 1982, judging by the foliage and surroundings. Cash Register is nearly done, and it would open in 1983. Republic Plaza is about halfway built, and it opened in 1984. 1801 California is done, and it opened in 1982. Plus you can see Texas Air and Continental Airlines; the two airlines would merge by 1983.

Extremely rare shot of the MCI/Verizon/Jacobs/Marriott Tower under construction, 1981:

By the way, LOTS of video footage of late 70s/early 80s Denver - and plenty of construction shots - in the opening credits to the TV sitcom "Dynasty":

From my personal collection - Denver pissing on historic buildings, even in the modern era:

Does anyone here have a picture of the Broadway Woolworths ? I can find many of the one that was located on 16th street but never a picture of the Broadway store.

I have a bunch more from the era. Kind of hit another gold mine:

Via OldSkool Denver - David Louis O'Dell and other sources mentioned on the photos; such as Getty Images
