Yep. Two years ago I made a prognosis in this very thread, that New York will hit 100 200m+ completed buildings by 2020. There are more than 10 buildings where construction is imminent, so yeah we'll get our 100 soon enough.

EDIT: average height of the 71+19 completed/topped out/under construction buildings: 75,369:90 = 837.43ft = 255,25m.

Thanks Chris! Only 3 exams left ... should be done by January. And then of course the Master thesis. Also, I have been travelling Europe the last couple of weeks ...

I've spent the whole day to get up do date with the New York projects, and I'm pretty sure I'm still missing about 50%.

A little off topic...

Anyone have a resource that can tell me the amount of commercial sqft (office or retail) being built south of Canal? There are several office to residential conversions, so it would be interesting to hear the net increase of commercial space.

A little more on topic, what's the square footage being added from all these new supertalls being built south of Canal?

After negotiations, the City Council approved the 1,050-ft version in 2009 although it has architectural elements that will reach 1,113 ft.

Nice! I'm not sure what they mean by "architectural elements" though. Like, if the roof reaches that height or there are antennas/spires.

I believe an extension of the unoccupied floors. AKA crown and pinnacle.

Correction: according to google earth the ground elevation (ASL) is 63'. So we have 1,113-63=1,050'.

50 Hudson is a supertall!

Foster + Partners’ designs for the latest tower to be located within New York’s Hudson Yards megaproject have been revealed. Named 50 Hudson Yards, the building will rise 985 feet (300 meters) into the sky in becoming New York City’s fourth largest commercial office tower with 2.9 million gross square feet and the new home of leading investment firm BlackRock.

1,550' ist the most recent and official figure we got (roof/parapet). My bet is this won't change. There was some speculation about the tower being actually 1,568' tall, but that was never official.

Also, the spire won't be coming back (or Barnett has a big surprise for us which I doubt very much).

New York's not getting a 2,000+ footer anytime soon. Even if it were, it would not be on the edge of the island. It's likely to be in the dense cluster of Midtown or Lower Manhattan (or perhaps even in Brooklyn). Once developers get bolder and decide to surpass 1WTC's spire height then perhaps.
