The Menara Telekom is a very unique building that sits at the opposite end of Kuala Lumpur from Petronas (with the Menara KL in between). It's located right at a lite rail stop adjacent to a fairly upscale neighborhood.

The tower has two interlocking curved shapes. Large trusses form hanging gardens of sorts on several levels between the two larger portions of the tower. At the 45th floor, a huge helipad tops out the smaller section of the tower, with a large projection that extends the tower another 10 floors and 200' or so.

I was there in September 2006 on a very rainy day, but the reflective facade and just a hint of sun provided some decent light to take pictures...

Okay, take down those crappy flags, ew, OTHER than that, what an amazing building! I've seen it in the diagrams, but I dont think I've ever actually seen a real life shot of it! I'll go search for some more pics

I LOVE this building. Definitely in my top 10 favorite Asian buildings.

I agree.
The greenery should be more abundant. This building could easily become the first real vegetal skyscraper, with actual gardens in the sky.
The other attempts have either been too timid or failed altogether.

Actually, cheesy as they are, I like the flags. They add a certain high-altitude Himalayan flavor, recalling the traditional flag strings of the Himalayan cultures.

Another note - the architect drew inspiration for the design from a bamboo shoot, imitating the lateral membranes inside bamboo cores.

This building is BEAUTIFUL!

I had no idea it curved like.
I love the hanging gardens on the balconies, too!
Leave the flags alone, Patrick! They add character, IMO

While interesting, I think the shape of the building is too complex looking from the ground level. If you are at an elevation where you can see the building from the mid point, like that last picture, I agree it is beautiful, but most people will not see it at that level.

I got dizzy scrolling through the pictures. It is amazing to look at. Does is have any kind of humane presence on the ground. It looks kind of set apart from the street in some of the pictures.

I really hate this building. It seems like it wants to be several buildings at once, failing at each, and becoming an unclear mess without any clear meaning or tangible focus. Blech.

Cool. I had completely forgotten about this building, even though I remember us watching the construction here on the forum. It's for sure one of my favorites in Asia.
