Photo Contest #72 - sign [voting]

A lot to choose from this time. I'm hopeful I got this all put together properly.

I've pondered this. After due consideration, the Academy Award goes to #6. From a technical perspective, it was one of the hardest images to capture. The sign is tack-sharp and this was done very well.

As for the others:

#5, #10 and #15 were all funny. #5 takes home the best performance in a comedy award.

#13 wins the Academy Award for best image in a slasher flick (gruesome).

#17 wins the WTF award, with #4 the runner-up.

I love the colors in 11 but I went for the wit in 1

Then it became as important not to look as to look, I feared I would be lost in rush of bronze motes."

Number one keeps making me giggle, but I haven't decided yet.

I think it's time that the photo contests reached the future, or at least a couple of years ago and increased the allowable size of the photos. I've had a few requests for size exceptions and I've usually just resized for the people. [Cripes, get to the point will you.] The maximum size is being increased to 1024 in the maximum direction. The 1024x800 kind of thing, but square can be cool so I think 1024x1024 is good too.

Any thoughts?

^ That should be okay.

Speaking of photoshopping, that last photo has to be doctored. There's no way the sign would be red and the vegetation not green, so the rest of the image has been desaturated (color removed). This is not what the naked eye would have seen.

# 6 Nostalgia for me.

Nicely composed with the well lit sign with ligtly rounded letters and the almost non-existing bus.

May 29th at 3:26AM. It should say with the voting results at the top or selections if you haven't voted yet. As long as you are logged in it should say.

The Entry periods and the Voting periods are usually one week, although for some subject matters we've given a couple of extra days or two weeks.

I actually received votes in my first ever photo contest entry, and I didn't even vote for my own! I consider it a moral victory. Yay!

I voted for 6 but it was almost a tie with 8 and 11 for me.

I voted for #6, I also liked #11, but #13 REALLY gets to the point.

Thats cool for landscaped photos but I usually set my resolution so I will have to scroll for portrait photos -- and that takes away from the photo for me. But I could always adjust my monitor when looking @ the contest so I guess no big deal. Nice pics all.

I always forget about these things. Too bad because I know of some signs that remind me of #5.

Tough decision but I think I'll go with #6.

HIMS, my entry was number 14. You could try, but I doubt you could find a road sign in Austin in French.

The story on that sign was another forumer spotted it during an Austin forum meet. I bet who ever owns(ed?) that sign was quite angry about that new building going up. Just 30 feet away was a new 5-story office building that would surely block the view of the sign making it obsolete. Kinda funny.
