Actually the 4th. There was an original that was MUCH taller that unfortunately never saw the light of day.

No need to be angry. There will still be a honeycomb building in Coal Harbour.

I feel you! The honeycomb version would have been a jewel of a building for the neighborhood and had great details. Now we have a plain slab w/trellis.

Agreed that the honeycomb looks great but if I were a resident I wouldn't be a huge fan of birds landing and making nests and covering it in crap

Name is awful, but I still like it.

It kind of reminds me of the Torre Diagonal Zero Zero building in Barcelona.

I stopped by the 8x on the Park presentation centre this afternoon, and it was nuts! Hundreds of people... two bedrooms starting at over one million, which seemed to disappoint some people there. Nice finishings but I wouldn't call it spectacular. Although the building itself is definitely going to be really nice.

Posted lots of pics, prices and details in my blog here: http://urbanyvr.com/8x-on-the-park-f...aletown-condos

Thanks for the pictures and info. Yeah, pretty damn expensive... Who on Earth is able to afford, let alone willing to pay, these kind of prices? It really puzzles me.

Thanks for posting. Ignoring price for a minute, the floorplans all look good and functional, so they are getting maximum use out of the space IMO.

But $1100/sf... for something that won't be available for 3+ years, wow. Gotta have faith there will be no market correction, government intervention, etc. in that time.

Don't think this will sell too well, with those astronomically high-priced condos offered, plus the tower is butt ugly.

These condos will jack up the average assessments of surrounding condos. Good for the pre-owned condo sellers I guess.

I think some of you guys are out of touch with the current condo market downtown.

The average resale price of a newer downtown condo this year is $915 per SF (units 10 years old or newer / avg. 5.6 yrs old). There are now resales regularly occurring at over $1,000 per SF in Yaletown for 10-20 year old buildings in good locations.

I'm not saying that I would buy at $1,100 per SF, and I think the market has gone crazy, but I don't think that they've 'mis-priced' it.

I don't know why anyone still thinks 1990s yellow brick is a good idea. Otherwise, looking good!

it's true.. it is extremely expensive.. there was a realtor beside me at the sales centre talking to one of the rennie people...

"My client is looking for a two bedroom"
"What's their budget?"
"They'd like to keep it under one million."
"Sorry, we have no two bedrooms in that price range."

I really like the brick - it's different. One of the better looking social housing buildings downtown IMHO.

Looks great. The colour and protruding boxes enliven that corner in comparison to the sea of generic beige condos behind it.
