Does anyone know why Vista is listed as shorter than Aon in the diagrams whereas I believe it is taller in every height criteria? 1186 ft vs 1136 ft respectively.

It doesn't show up as being shorter to me. The only thing I can guess is that you were searching by pinnacle height, in which case the diagrams count a small antenna that was installed on Aon Center in 2009.

Couldn't blame him if he was. That is a sweet background. This one is going to have some prime views all around.

The mysterious blue posts are back. This doesn't look like any of the hypothesized uses people came up with before…

^Exactly. You clip your lanyard to the cables strung from the poles and off you go. Simple as that.

Via Crain's:

Vista Tower developer not worried about shakeup at Chinese partner

"The deal affecting the Chicago project essentially shifts ownership from one Wang [Jianlin] business to another. Under the agreement, Wanda Hotel Development, a public company with shares listed in Hong Kong, would sell its 60 percent equity stake in Wanda Americas Real Estate Investment, the venture that has invested in the Vista project, according to an Aug. 9 statement from Wanda Hotel. Wanda Hotel would sell its interest to Dalian Wanda Commercial, a company majority-owned by Wang and his family."

Sounds good, but for some reason I've yet to see a photo where somebody does that, and there are plenty of photos showing workers right near the edge which is where fall protection is needed. Also, why have them in the middle of the slab and not near the edges?

They're for fall protection while the elevated decking is being installed. The carpenters along the leading edge use it to tie off. That's why you see the poles toward the middle. Once the forming for the slab edge is established you put up handrail and no longer need to be tied off since you're not exposed to a fall of 6' or greater.

Maybe he's just not very good at selfies.

That was quick! I still think One Grant Park is faster, but Vista isn't far behind!
