they go to Alaska, For Americans seeing Alaska is very important to them to go and see it and due to weird port rules its advantageous to leave from Vancouver instead of Seattle.

You could say this about most cities. At their most fundamental, there isn't a whole lot super special anywhere. Still interesting to check them out though and see what they look and feel like. Different strokes.

1238 Richards Street a.k.a. Metropolis had a sub-penthouse available for a decent price, so we went to check it out. All units in this building are two-floors which is fairly impractical. The interior felt very 90s and no wonder, as the building has been completed in 1999.

View of surrounding Yaletown was nice, but the unit wasn't right for us.

Went recently to see a large 34th floor apartment in The Melville which I believe is still the tallest all-residential building in the city of Vancouver.

Unit we saw had the largest patio of all the apartments, but unfortunately landlord was not willing to compromise on price and it wasn't meant to be.

I have seen many photos of the amenity floor on the 42nd floor, but never seen in with my own eyes. It really looks fantastic and people were really enjoying the patio lawn and pool. One things I found scary was how low the railing up there is.

One of the best views in Coal Harbour.

Dense skyline of Downtown Vancouver. This view will unfortunately soon be blocked by a tall office tower going up next door.

Finally, a view of Trump Tower next door.

All in all, Melville seemed like a nice building and the location is one of the nicest in Coal Harbour. Maybe there will be another unit for us, who knows.

The annual Vancouver FlipOut Pinball Expo took place in Yaletown neighborhood last weekend and was a lot of fun! Hundreds of people attended the even to get a chance to play some of the over 100 pinball machines.

There was a constant line-up for the more popular tables but classic machines offered an interesting insight into the history of this entertainment form.

Table from a more simple era.

Some of the newer table have so many features that learning them will take several plays. I still liked The Hobbit a lot as there was all the time something new to discover.

Table art is often super colorful.

We had a blast at the 3-day expo and plan on returning again next year!

Yesterday Vancouver welcomed its the biggest cruise ship ever, as the 333-meters long Norwegian Bliss called port at Canada Place. The ship took to seas earlier this year and spent the summer sailing between Seattle and Alaska. It was now in Vancouver to mark the end of this year's busy cruise season with 4,000 passengers boarding the ship for a cruise down to Los Angeles, where the ship will spend its winter sailing to Mexican Riviera.

Unfortunately the weather wasn't so splendid upon the visit and I was only able to took some cell phone shots of the gigantic vessel. It was still a sight to behold!
