Ottawa’s landscape is evolving, and Barrhaven is at the forefront with its exciting new downtown development. Growing alongside this vibrant urban tapestry, Anthem stands as a testament to innovation and human-centred design, offering a selection of innovative Metro Towns. With Anthem’s grand opening fast approaching (October 7th, 2023), let’s explore this remarkable opportunity that is already captivating investors and homebuyers alike.

Anthem, a master-planned community from developer Minto Communities, embodies the essence of contemporary living in Barrhaven. Positioned strategically within the Future Barrhaven Town Centre, this development isn’t just about homes; it’s about an entire lifestyle.
“This neighbourhood is ideal for first-time home buyers,” says Anthony Minchella, vice-president, sales & marketing, Minto Communities. “From the central amenity space to the appealing streetscapes, our new Metro Towns are an alternative to traditional condos, giving homeowners additional living space with low maintenance living.”

With Anthem, you’re investing in a future where exceptional transit options, nature trails and everyday amenities are steps away. In fact, one of Anthem’s standout features is its ideal location, connecting it to Barrhaven’s most sought-after amenities. Here, residents have the best of Barrhaven right at their doorstep: shopping, transit, pathways, ponds, parks and more.

Of course, this is just the beginning. In recent years, Barrhaven has established a reputation for its extraordinarily rapid growth and popularity, which Anthem capitalizes on by offering proximity to the area’s ever-expanding list of offerings.

“What really stands out about Anthem is its walkability and proximity to existing and future amenities,” Minchella says. “In addition to Chapman Mills Marketplace, transit, restaurants, and green spaces which are currently all close at hand, homeowners can look forward to the LRT transit hub and city-planned Civic Complex coming in the future.”

The Barrhaven Town Centre Vision is proposed to feature high-quality urban design, efficient transportation, planning for future growth, wide sidewalks, stepped buildings and a civic square with adjacent shops.

As Barrhaven’s new downtown emerges, Anthem will experience all the benefits of this new ’15-minute neighbourhood’ where everything is just a 15-minute walk or bicycle ride away. Walkability, diverse shops, pet-friendly facilities and inviting green spaces are part of the city’s projected experience.

Additionally, with Marketplace transit station steps away, and easy access to Highway 416, and Barrhaven’s Via Rail station and the upcoming Light Rail Transit available, Anthem residents will find they are effortlessly connected to the city and beyond.

A distinctive feature of Anthem’s design is the linear park, a residential amenity vision that not only beautifies the community but also fosters a sense of togetherness. The inclusion of local amenities ensures a sense of cultural pride, anchoring residents in the heart of Barrhaven’s charm.

What truly sets Anthem apart is the introduction of Minto Communities’ Metro Towns homes. Boasting pricing starting from the high $300s, Metro Towns’ Union and Leaside models are redefining attainable home ownership and are drawing a lot of attention for their lucrative investment opportunity. Notably, Kanata’s Parkside in Arcadia community has enjoyed overwhelming success with the release of their Metro Towns, selling out all 60 of their opening day homes. This success defied market norms and stands as a testament to the demand for this innovative and attainable home.

Minto Communities has also noted that many have been intrigued by the low maintenance condo lifestyle offered by Anthem’s Metro Towns. In this community, residents are relieved of the typical upkeep usually associated with homeownership – exterior maintenance is taken care of, lawns are mowed and snow is shovelled. And, with most homes offering coveted underground parking that will safeguard vehicles from the elements, many are looking forward to carefree winter months.

Be sure to mark your calendars for October 7th and be ready to embark on an exciting journey at Anthem, where convenience, connectivity and community converge. Don’t miss your chance to be a part of an exceptional community in Barrhaven’s highly-anticipated new downtown.

Is it just me or should we not be reserving all the central lands in Barrhaven for higher density projects?

In my opinion everything south of Strandherd, East of the Home Depot near Jockvale, north of Chapman Mills and west of Longfields should be reserved for high & medium density only. We only have 1 shot of developing this area correctly, into a high density, mixed-use downtown for Barrhaven, why fill it with low-density towns which will inevitably fill the rest of Barrhaven anyways.

This seems like a fairly decent suburban project, but yeah, this close to Stage 3 should probably be far denser.

Claridge's super dense proposal at the south, west corner of the first map below is less accessible from the future transit station than this.

For reference.
