Yeah, the +15 may be nice on a frigid day, but it does take away a lot of retail that would be outside facing. Much of that retail would be closed after 5:00pm anyhow, but some would still be open.

Toronto's CBD is almost devoid of retail because 99% of it has been put underground.

^Nice updates FP!

Can't wait to see what the glazing will look like on this. From the renderings it looks like it could be really nice.

Thanks

Thanks Surrealplaces for the fantastic pictures. I was on the last project the other side of you, Centennial Place, for over two years as the head surveyor until I became chronically sick. Glad to see PCL are back at it, just wish I was! Hey, are you on site too as you have some pretty good shots of the lagging etc. Man, does it bring back memories, I thought I was back in the hole at Centennial!

I think this one should be moved to the construction section no? It looks under construction to me.

For the purposes of the overall forum, it gets moved into the construction section when permanent parts of the building are being installed, so as soon as the foundation starts being poured.

I'm willing to bet that the hotel is Fairmont, the company is run by Oxford, a subsidiary of the Ontario Teachers Pension, as well as Cadillac Fairview, the company building this project. I worked for the company for a year and a half, and at one of the general meetings a document was posted stating a new Fairmont would be open in 2014 or later in Calgary, I would guess that this is the project that was stated on there. At the time, last summer, the execs wouldn't give any details about the actual location, but this does make sense.

I have it on good authority that the hotel will indeed be a fairmont.
