Question for anyone in the construction industry or in the know: Isn't a caisson the sleeve that the concrete gets poured into, and then the cylindrical concrete thing that is formed is a column? Or did the concrete part end up taking on the name of the conduit for it since the sleeve part is what's creating it, and it can also be properly called a column? Or is the caisson the part of the concrete cylinder that's under ground? Or?

That means we are officially Under Construction! I think this is the first time there has been 3 major towers under construction along the river since the Chicago Spire, Trump, and Waterview were all U/C. It's good to see the boom is back!

The river confluence is going to be awesome! you have a robust jutting tower that goes against the river(150 n riverside) and a graceful curved tower that goes with the river (river point)

Harry, your photos are insane to us expats who no longer walk over the bridges and contemplate the progress. Chi-town forever. If only Chi would figure out the meaning of "liner building" when it came to west loop and streeterfail. 150 is a perfect example of urban forwardism. Thanks again my friend.

But, I'm disappointed. I expected bigger.

So, none of the typical larger Case caisson (crane look) rigs for this job? Actually, I'm curious, what is this type of equipment (the yellow rig) called (and what are the other Case variety called for that matter?)? This one may do the job, I've noticed that in other cities around the world, foundation work for very larger towers sometimes or even often use just this type of rig.......whereas in Chicago, as we know, it's typically been the Case 'craney-looking rigs (man I need a boost to my technical construction vocabulary, big time)
