My exclusive interview with Gehry. His massive Toronto development is moving ahead. (Paywall)

Too bad the article is in the clutches of a desperate cyber system that G&M put up which attempts to have people pay for online news (something I agree with to some extent)

Are you able to reveal what this article says?

Yeah, the New York Times' system works better. They give you 10 free articles per month, the cost of which is slightly offset by online banner ads. After that you have to pay. It gives you a taste and lets you decide if you want more. With The Globe and Mail's immediate firewall, you don't even get the taste, so you're most likely going to go elsewhere. Not a smart system for such a smart publication.

I think I'm less glad to see these towers go up since their mostly luxury residences...something we don't really need in this market.

I don't really care who buys the units, or who lives in them either... that stuff is well beyond my means. But I will be able to enjoy a supertall gracing the skyline!

Fair enough. I'm intrigued by the art gallery that'll be included, but also just how dominating these towers will be.

I feel similar. I do look forward to seeing them and their impact in the skyline.

Application to amend Official Plan Amendment (OPA) 272 and Site-specific Zoning By-law 1481-2017 for the lands at 260-270 King Street West and 274-322 King Street West. The current site specific OPA and Zoning By-law permits a mixed use development with two building. On the east block an 82 storey building with a height of 275 metres is permitted and on the west block a 92 storey buildng (305 metres) is permitted. The applications proposed to incrase the overall metric heights from 275 to 300 metres for the east tower and from 305 to 325 metres for the west tower. The proposal includes a reduction in the overall gross floor area and a reduction of 237 dwelling units overall.
New tallest by roof height...

Given the fairly significant height increase, the reduction in units is interesting/odd.
