I saw that casino in Calgary when I was there in August. It made me laugh out loud.

At least they didn’t build a skyscraper above it in that style. The Cowboys Casino and the BMO Centre (which are right beside each other) are pretty much the worst pieces of Stampitecture .

Yes indeed. It's somewhat comforting to know that we're not the only place to fall victim to it.

Sadly it's one of the nicer casinos in Calgary architecturally speaking.

Edmonton’s answer is equally lousy.

Are those fake smoke stacks?

Calgary's is still worse:

It's only saving grace is the attached bowling alley.

The streetscape is completely hellish as it's in an industrial park:

I never thought of it that way but you're right. It's got the early 00's bright colour PoMo of Swiss Chalet but with terrible "Western Art". As bad as the BMO centre and Cowboys Casino are, they at least are made with quality, expensive materials like brick and stone. Deerfoot Inn and Casino takes their aesthetic but using the cheapest and shittiest suburban materials. Those photos don't capture its full hideousness.

Here's a few more:

Nothing screams authenticity more than drop ceiling tiles with fake wood beams in front of it.

Depressing beige wedding venue:

Nothing is more welcoming when dining than a glowing neon vagina on the ceiling:

25% Swiss Chalet 25% Boston Pizza 1% Keg and 49% Calgary Hyatt
