Shannie Duff, our former Deputy Mayor, who single-handedly stopped the city's plan to demolish the whole of Water Street and replace it with more Atlantic Place and modern Fortis style buildings... She's long since retired and has all kinds of awards and honours for her role in our history... She still hopes to one day be wheeled down to Water Street, even on her deathbed, to see Atlantic Place come down.

Ready to hate it even more? It was based on Vancouver's City Hall. An architectural potato Jesus.

It escapes me why anyone would want to live in a new development right next to the QEW. You get all the noise without any of the urban amenities to make up for it.

^Cost.

I guess I am thankful that Regina's economy is in the dumps and there is little development going on. Hopefully some new styles emerge that are less terrible.

A joyous last sight I’m sure.

So this

Was based on this?

What an absolute failure. It looks more like a high school to me.

Basement Offices on that stretch of Victoria Avenue, no thank-you

all that Glitters is...

maybe the best looking hotel built in Regina in the last decade

you too can own a condo in bigboxlandia

wow, look at the size of those, those, those...

everybody loves the Hardy Boys

Boardwalkia

do you remember that scene from Edward Scissorhands?

I had a similar thought for identifying cities by one ugly thing. Instead of one building though I was trying to think of a product that would represent each city.

Here's my list so far:

Calgary: Not just any truck nuts, but fancy truck nuts:

St. John's: I'm not sure why, but based on SignalHillHiker's stories the snuggy seems like a good fit

Laval: It's pretty self explanatory.

Edmonton: Not quite sure yet but this Super Mullet Wig on Amazon is a good start.

https://www.amazon.com/Fun-World-Mul.../dp/B07C9DN99C

If there was a jogging pants / snuggy combo piece of clothing that would also work.

Okotoks: My pet rock.

Probably one of the millions of fugly condos that litter the cities streets. I have barely scratched the surface on this thread yet.

I never used to find it that offensive but knowing that puts it almost on par with The Park condos in Calgary. I agree with stevanford that it looks like a highschool.

Whalley is worse (I worked there for years), but in terms of buildings, le roi des laideurs is Clockzilla.

Holy shit! I need eyewash! How have those never been posted here before? The paint job takes them to the next level. Other commie blocks at least try to blend into the background.
