This proposal is actually at the corner of Dumoulin and Langevin , behind 277/227 Provencher, assuming it swallows up the vacant lot and will be built over this jail house building. https://www.google.ca/maps/@49.89379...7i13312!8i6656

Yes most of the work is done, they’ve still got a bit left to do on some of the unit entrances. Looks good.

looks good? the for lease signs have been up for 2 years I believe. low ceiling and teleposts every 10 ft (it appears) are a distraction for most I would think. I do see some activity in there as of late, hopefully that pans out

If anyone goes, should ask about the auto compound. From what I know, that thing isn't going anywhere.

There is also the CN-CP Winnipeg Paddington interchange yard at the extreme south side of the land next to the auto compound

Yes, that is correct. The people in the new houses to the south complain about it. Even thought it's been there for oh I don't a century or so.

Refresh my memory. The land on south side of Provencher at St. Joseph. It's being rezoned to 'RMU PDO-1 Provencher Boulevard'.

Is there something specific planned for the site?

Edit: Oh it's this one. Report 1.

The chocolatier next door has a bunch of concerns, which is fine I guess. They're worried about the sign on the side of their building, landscaping and such.

Although I understand their concerns, really it's not up to them.

^Lol yeah you took a risk putting a sign there while it was an empty lot, the property next door has the right to build up to their property line. Oh well.

Also, it's actually good that they're removing those sidewalk trees, as they're on the wrong side of the sidewalk. Of course, hopefully they/the city do put new ones in on the street side.

Is the sign they're concerned about on the side of their building? If so its unreasonable to expect that the owner of the lot next door would jeopardize the viability of a development to accommodate a sign that one couldn't reasonably expect to be visible in the first place. Hopefully that development can get going asap. It would still be awesome if some sort of boutique hotel were to set up operations on provencher. Something that really added to the streetscape. More residential with ground floor retail would be pretty great too. One day maybe we can actually tell people visiting that provencher is a great lively street without lying.

I have been checking on this site for months but no signs of life. I hope it is still alive because it would be terrific for the boulevard.

There is zoning before one of the city committees. So maybe it has been hung up there. But yes, this looks to be a great fit for the street. Doesn't look faux French style. But has nice brick finish. Hopefully the grey panels don't look too cheap.

The Chocolatier sign is on the side of the building yes. The rendering don't really show what's happening to the sidewalk, so it's a valid concern. The bus stop will remain I assume. But all of their issues they really have nothing to do with it. That being said, I'm glad they're passionate about the neighbourhood!

I would love to see a couple buildings like that built down Henderson.
