For those with points in the newly merged Marriott/Starwood program, here is a new one; two club seats for the New Year Year's Eve Jets at Oilers game with a deluxe room at the Westin Edmonton. Current bidding at $35K points:

https://spg-moments.marriott.com/mom...ls/moment/7358

The Jets at Rangers offers are already sold out.

Please note, given how poorly the merger has been going from an IT perspective I don't know how well the bidding site is working.

Also, two suite tickets for Jets at Kings on December 18, flat rate of 50K points.

Enlighten me please. Is 50k points a lot? Seems like it would take years to gather that many points unless you fly everyday.

Those are Marriott Rewards points. You would have to be a fairly frequent traveler to amass that many points through hotel stays.

The good news is you can get 50K points by signing up for a specific American Express card and spending $1,500 on it. The card is $120, so if you look at it as $60 Canadian per ticket to watch a Jets game from a suite at Staples Center, that's a great deal. Although personally, I'd still rather use my points for hotel stays.

Of course the bad news is that the ship has sailed for the game DavefromSt.Vital was posting about. But if you start now, you could be ready for the next time.

Incidentally, DavefromSt.Vital seems pretty plugged into the SPG/Marriott scene... he must be a very frequent traveler

Right. Hotel points. But yes, seems like a lot of travelling. For those who travel for work, great program.

Actually travelling is not the key. Earning points at the basic scale gets you very little. Exerting some effort along the way to maximize your benefits is what you need to do.

Most of my colleagues know that one of my hobbies is collecting loyalty points/status and they come to me for advice at various times. One colleague was a lifetime Marriott person and never stayed anywhere else. For the last five years of her career she spent 23 weeks per year in a hotel and had never redeemed for a free night. However, she only had about 250K points lifetime as she had never signed up for a quarterly promotion, never entered a contest, etc. I felt bad telling her that even though I rarely travel for business and have redeemed for free nights in the past, since I sign up for everything I currently have ~500K points.

Here is an easy way to bump up your balance. Marriott is running a contest to promote their combined 29 different brands. While the vast majority of daily prizes are a piddly 50 points, larger wins are possible and it takes only a minute or two each day. Keep at it and one day you will be watching the Jets at MSG...

^ Getting the perks of incessant work travel without actually having to subject yourself to it is definitely way to go

Not to toot my own horn too loudly, but so far I've redeemed for nearly a month's worth of free nights abroad this year using (pre-merger) Marriott and SPG points. Good times!

Jets are on a roll. 11-5-1, and just knocked off Ovechkin and the Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals.

And their game still isn't up to where it can be. Which is very good news for Jets fans!

So they are still talking about Veselainen going back to Europe. I think it would be a huge mistake for him. He's already excelled over there. He needs to learn the NA game. I think he's getting bad advice if he's thinking of heading back.

Tonights line up looks exciting:

Ehlers-Sheif-Wheels
Connor-Little-Laine
Copp-Lowry-Tanev
Petan-Roslovic-Perrault

I like seeing Roslovic getting another chance in the middle.

^ Looks good to me... I can't say I'd sit any of those guys on the bottom 2 lines for Lemieux.

I can't wait for trade deadline when Jets pick up a good 2C or top winger.

Either bring in Duchene at C. Or Stone at W and put Wheeler at 2C. Boom. Where the fire emoji.

Fireworks will do.

Lanie with the first 5 goal game in nearly 8 years in the NHL, and the first Jets player to put up 5 goals since 1994-95.

Had he netted a 6th goal, he would have been the first player since the 60's to do a double hatty.

Laine is definitely getting a star of the week on Monday, at the very least.

Darryl Sittler scored six goals for the Toronto Maple Leafs on Feb. 7, 1976. He had an NHL record 10 points on that night.
