Forks, WA, without the vampires

Interest in Forks has increased recently as the setting for Twilight books and the movie. I thought the movie represented the environment fairly well, even though it wasn't filmed in Forks. The real Forks is more bland than the movie version, a working class lumber town. Also the movie missed that much of the land for miles in every direction is harvested for timber and much is clear cut. True old growth rain forest is about 15 miles away. Since I live just a hop skip and a jump away I thought I'd go and get a better representation. Enough yapping, let's go.

The road to Forks

Clear cut forest as you get close to town

The real Forks HS, not quite like the movie at all

Some local businesses are trying to capitalize on the town's new found fame

For those not in the know, Bella is the main character's name
