sucks, because what you get in return is nothing to write home about. On top of the excessive fees for water/sewer that you pay for separately. I pay more than 7K in property taxes.

This is just to cover Salary and Benefit increases. No new services.
We are paying more to keep the same old same old.

And most of the increase will go to cover increases in the minimum wage as some city workers are not union represented, not part of a collective bargaining agreement and thus paid minimum wage. Part of the money, although a very small part, will probably go towards covering the costs of adjusting payroll records to accommodate higher wages and increased deductions for tax, CPP and EI.

Yeah very correct and complete BS ^^^ that and union guarantee % increases.

I am all for an increase to min wage however the proposed change is crazy, small business' will suffer and can tell you it will not help anyone long term. Employers will cut hours and expect much more productive work from their workers, which adds stress etc. If the government truly wanted to help the minimum wage workers they would have put through a small increase lets say to $12-12.5/h and they would have relieved the income tax collected on people making under $25K a year.
