Most of these were taken last weekend as the rain finally stopped and the clouds parted making for a perfect December day. These are mostly in order of my route as I was wandering the streets of Vancouver. Enjoy!
Edit: Sorry for the large size of the photos, I've switch to imageshack and I'm still getting a feel for it...
Edit: Photo sizes fixed!
Let's start this off with a little Christmas cheer:
Now to some grit. Rear entrance to the American Hotel:
Ok, how about some real grit:
Main Street after some rain:
Three new houses that are made to look like old ones. I know I keep photographing these three guys, but they're just so photogenic, I guess:
There's always 'rooms' for improvement, ha ha:
Not the most flattering angle of Van's downtown:
Closer look in. That building under construction in the middle is the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel, with just a few more floors to go:
North Van in the distance and some nice fluffy white clouds:
That's the Woodward's development all over exposed and under construction. The taller one has topped out now:
A look down Alexander Street in Gastown at Woodwards again:
Alexander Street streetscape in Gastown:
This looked like a real building from the last picture:
Yellow building, yellow 1970's Civic, yellow line:
Hotel Europe and reflections:
One of Vancouver's oldest buildings, but only from 1887, located right in the heart of Gastown, where the city started:
Gastown Street:
Gastown in the foreground, Woodwards in the background:
Gastown whimsy:
More Gastown:
The 'legendary' Cambie Hostel and Pub:
Old flatiron-shaped building, meet new flatiron-shaped building:
Spencer Building detail:
Waterfront Station, which is now a skytrain/bus/sea bus terminal, used to be a railroad station:
More Gastown buildings:
Chinatown architecture which is unique to Vancouver:
More Chinatown architecture. There's lots of history behind these walls:
At least this awning will show you where on your butchered animal you just purchased, each cut of meat is located on it:
Chinatown shoppers, some bundled up while it's near 10 degrees above zero and sunny. Ahh Vancouver:
Some Chinatown fruit and veg:
And some bonus shots from a few weeks ago. I love Van's cloud formations and am making it a New Year's resolution to photograph them more:
Hot dog vendor on Main Street:
Another fabulous sign:
A very handsome and stately Heritage Hall. Maybe one day I'll photoshop the trolley lines out of the picture:
And some night shots, taken about a week ago, sans tripod.
Coal Harbour condos from Robson Street:
