Balisong City (New creation)

Hey there here's a new city that I built using Sketchup.

Welcome to Balisong City (in its current state at least)

Waterfront District

Unnamed Times Square-inspired theater district

Star-Wars inspired Trench city district

List of to be completed districts:
Boroughs: - Balisong Island (Based on NYC, Toronto, Chicago, Hong Kong)
- Theatre District
- Chinatown
- Little Italy
- Uptown
- Midtown
- Downtown
- Park East/West
- Museum District

- Eglinton County
- Pukunta City
- Koovor Bay
- Downtown Eglinton
- Town of Quantum

Also, there are quite a handful of buildings over 100-storeys in Balisong City

Since this has been up for a day already and I still get no responses, I decided to spice things up in the big city a little by adding rendered images!

Also, a view of the almost-finished Park East district

Word for the wise, focus more on quality as oppose to quantity. My first city was something similar to this, just one building after another with no real dynamic or purpose. Browse some of the cities on the forum and you'll get what I mean (Bourne NY is a good example of a city with good dynamic).

Ok, I'll start working on more Quality-based buildings from now on.

Anyway, here's another pic i'd like to share

And here's Balisong City's unnamed Times Square area

Reminds me of my first city.

A few things though:

You should scale your textures.

You should also scale the buildings to the other buildings.(for example, that small hospital is in no realtion close to the scale or building size of the other buildings)

One last thing is that you should try different building styles. A few Art Deco Buildings here, modern buildings there ect.also maybe spread out your skyline a little.

Off to a nice start!

would i live in this city?
well in its current state no. it's one of those cities that you would love to visit but you wouldn't want to live there. i dunno maybe cos' there's too much office buildings and not enough green

i'm not saying it's not a good city, it's awesome. the only problem i have with it is that there's too much buildings packed together

I like the skyline! It resembles a mountain range with nice points of interest here and there. It has a nice balance, I think. Next step would be to add detail to those buildings, especially on the roofs.
