I agree, many of those buildings in the last update are infact Beaux-Arts, popular at the time as well, but characterized by highly detailed, less streamlined decorations, greek columns, broad awnings, sectioning. those two scientology buildings are examples.

Relax, It's an aquired skill. most of us spent years nose deep in textbooks, googleing till our joints were stiff, or watching discovery channel specials to the point of brain hemorrhage.

Here in Saint John we detroyed half of our Art Deco buildings.
We imploded the old general hospital, tore out the facade of the old NBtell building, and knocked down the Odeon theatre. (late deco loby, quite nice)
Most of our rmaining deco buildings are schools, the ones I know of are St. Mac's High and Bayside school, the charlotte street entrance to the chinese cultural center and the old bank of nova scotia building
EDIT: I forgot we covered the old woolworth's store in the 70's.

Well, I think most people on here are more than familiar with the Art Deco landmarks of NYC - so I'll just highlight my personal favorite.

Not sure if this is true Art Deco or not, but its the closest thing I can think of in Moncton

1111 Main st.

Moncton is a fairly "new" city, most of our tall buildings are from 1960 and on.

It's not Art Deco, more early modernism, it would look, to me.

This building has elements of art deco in it but its more modernist than anything. Art deco did come back in style I believe in the 70s and 80s in some cities, although I cant think of many examples off the top of my head. Do you know when this building was built?

Not 100% sure but I think it was around the early 50's

Yeah, I figured it wasnt art deco, but to me I always got that sort of vibe from it.

I really love the art deco era though, its a shame there isnt more of it around here.

The Philadelphia area has quite a few good ones, though unfortunately I don't have pictures of any of them, so here's a rare example of deco from Taipei, Taiwan:

Art Deco is probably my favorite architectural style. I just wish Salt Lake City had some good art deco, but I don't think we have anything, at least not that I can think of... I think our Masonic Temple is art deco

The Fort Worth T&P station makes me wonder what the Michigan Central Depot would look like restored.
