Great photos. I can't remember ever seeing too many street level shots of Athens. Some of the photos look reminiscent of San Francisco. Thanks!

Great pictures.
World's first democracy.
Sucks how the city is being attacked by the anarchists.

The best thing about Athens may be the Greeks themselves. The city went through a terrible period in the 60s and 70s when it modernized with horrifyingly bad architecture. Much of the 19th century building stock has been destroyed or is dilapidated. The Plaka is too touristy but is perfectly scaled. At night, the sidewalk cafes are in the Kolonaki district are wonderful. The ancient ruins fit the topography ideally.

Great pictures, great city, and great people.

Some wonderful photos in here. Athens life vs. Athens landmarks. Dig the cats.

Fantastic. It's the old Kowloon of Europe. Hyper-density as far as you can see-- and a whole lot of charm.

Great set, AX!

Great thread, yo!

Why did they even get the Olympics if they are going to let every venue go disused and fall into a state of neglect?

Remarkable photos. Haha, love the KKE shot at the end. When I was in Thessaloniki I inadvertently ended up at one of their rallies, and walked out with a big communist flag...classic souvenir.

What's going on Greece right now is really unfortunate though.
