What musée is that rue named for, and dear god almighty what were they thinking with that "street" layout?

Rue du Musée? What musée?

I might check that out someday. Didn't realize that Gréber went all the way up there.

The whole area tends to have names inspired by streets in the vicinity of Mount Royal in Montreal: Côte-des-Neiges, Mont-Royal, Prince-Arthur, Duluth, Outremont, etc. Some of them like Musée are more obscure but they do exist in Montreal close to the mountain.

Some distance from here, there is an area of the Plateau district of Gatineau that has a bunch of streets named for famous museums: Louvre, Beaux-Arts, Art-Moderne, Prado, Pergame, etc.

It's curvy. Don't you like curves? Who doesn't.

Musée de la cowshit from the farm next door.

The mere mention of the Pl*t*** D*str*ct brings to mind its god-awful tacky street-naming schemes.

All suburban areas, or nearly all, have some sort of tacky, cringe worthy naming convention. King's Grant, Abbott's Run, Paradise, a lot of creeks and hills (with no creeks or hills in sight). Touraine had a French region naming convention, Plateau and the European theme. It's jut how it is. Try not to think about it.

The Plateau also has an astronomy-themed area: Constellation, Galaxie, Nébuleuse, Polaire, etc.

It exists in many cities, inclusing some parts of Ottawa.

For example this part of Orleans has a wine theme:

https://www.google.com/maps/place/Be...2Fg%2F1thsq_v6

But Gatineau seems to do it a lot more than Ottawa does. Most every new area in Gatineau seems to have a theme of some sort.

BTW Brossard on the south shore of Montreal has streets in specific districts all starting with the same letter. So people actually say they live in the Rs or the Ms.

Somewhere mercifully built before they put marketing in charge, and before municipal governments sold their powers to new-build developers.

There's a wine theme near my place in Aylmer too.. Chablis, Claret, Chardonnay, Riesling.. right next to rue Winston-Churchill, who was known to imbibe a bit..

Ah yes, the wine district!
Aylmer also has the Animal district (Loup Gris, Raton-Laveur, Orignal, Canard, Carcajou, etc) and the Apple district (Spartan, Mcintosh, Lobo, Fuji, Cortland) to go along with the aforementioned Space and Museum districts.

Also the nautical one, which at least fittingly is near the water: Régates, Kayak, Catamaran, Grand-Hunier, Haubans, Rameurs, etc.

The Lépine Complex near Kanata Centrum has a geological theme: Canadian Shield Drive, Great Lakes Drive, Maritime Lane, etc.
Actually, for the last one, with bilingual signage, it says “(La) Voie Maritime” which makes me chuckle every time.
“On se croît sur le fleuve Saint Laurent.”

Have to admit that developer-led themed streets are definitely cringe but i'm not sure they're much worse than most major centres in Canada having King/Queen/Prince/Princess streets, along with streets like Frank/Peter/Charles etc.

We've already reached the point where streets are named after corporations (Home Depot Drive) which is almost certainly the biggest sin of all.
